Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

it can be used gently.. oh, and the chain works for a bolt too.. I actually used that to pull a stuck dizzy out of a SB once.. no hood, stood on the valve covers...

Chief thanks for sharing these pics. Why did you decide on new rear quarters as to patching the current ones?

because patching them won't get all the rust, they are in bad shape from the previous bodywork and I thought buying new would save a lot of effort...in short...I intend to keep this truck a long time...I don't want to have to redo what I have done all over again in a few years

I Don't have pictures but I got the same problem with the passenger door. Get the bottom gap looking good and the sail gap perfect and the rear gap at the quarter panel is crap wide at top and narrow at bottom

ok, we'll take care of it when ya hang the qrters... did you do body mounts in the truck?

and did you get the tailpan?

Thankfully I already did the body mounts and yes I now have the tail pan, it came with the quarters.

do you own a bench grinder with a wirewheel? your gonna have a butt-ton of bolts from the qrters to wells, etc that are gonna need cleaning up....

I got a bench grinder but no wire wheel...both are grinding wheels...guess you can just pull one off and put on a wire wheel?

correct just make sure the arbor size is the same.. any hardware store will have em...

So what's next...I still haven't finished either door yet...I straitened the passenger side bottom without causing much damage...still got to fill and sand that whole door though...
I managed to bend the door hinge slightly by trying to close the hinge with a pair of pliers...the upper part bent and the spring caught the rest and it twisted...I haven't got it completely straight yet..I thought I could "shut" the hinge by hand...It broke the cheap pliers

the way I am dinging things up, it's probably best that I get all the panels aligned, then do the body work...I keep making more work for myself...I am going to have to spot prime a bunch of places where the door hit today...it's almost impossible to hang a door by yourself and not hit something.

next gig, start ripping qrters off... 1/2" socket on a ratchet, start zipping out all those bolts....

Got nothing done today...email server went down at work...I spent this beautiful day in the server cave...:doah::doah::doah:

hull #

on fiberglass boats you'll normally find it stamped into the top right of the transom...
