Which brings the question...why is there a left and right vent glass division bar channel run? if rubber why wouldn't they be the same?

I don't know which part you are talking about. Can you point it out on this page
 
You want a picture of what the stuff looks like that doesn't have 40 years of dry rot. Well I can't help you there. All I have is 40 year stuff and this is the best I have. Hopefully it gives you a clue of what you are looking for. Btw in the second pic, is that the lock rod you need?

YES! That's the lock rod.

I am going to call Steele Rubber tomorrow. If those are made here in the U.S. out of U.S. parts I am going to buy them. If they are imported I might as well buy from LMC.

How much for that lock rod and the keepers?
 
Work is killing me...got no time for anything...

here I am at 12:30 at night on a Wednesday installing my vent windows. I got them in...an yes they pulled the door sails in nicely...they look nice. I don't have time for photos right now, but maybe this weekend.
 
This will be what mine looks like! Except it will be a Chevy, and a 4x4. And have barn doors.

I got hood insulation put in last night...I got it from LMC and didn't realize I had to cut it to fit....I don't do well with kiddy scissors so it isn't perfectly straight...
Does anybody know of a vendor that sell pre-cut insulation for these trucks? :dunno:
 
I took out the drivers seat and took it out back and set it on fire....:eek1:

You would not believe how fast it went up and how hot it burned...I didn't remove any of the foam this time...it was so hot I could feel the heat through the patio window...
wow...that old foam would ignite and burn you up quickly...I think the new stuff is flame retardant...

Anyway...I can't drive it now till I get the seats covers and back in...
 
I would have taken photos of the flaming seat, but it was burning so high and hot I was afraid to take my eyes off it....
the heat was causing pressure on the door and the house was creaking....I was getting nervous there for a while

no joke...if you were belted in and had a wreck and one of those seats caught fire...you would roast...

Tis why I never put belts on...
 
Seat frames are both now painted and ready to go to the upholsterer.

I got the drivers side cleaned up and painted...I decided to go ahead and prime and paint it and skip sandblasting...the drivers seat was no where near as rusty as the passenger seat frame.

I did have to weld some cracks but overall the rust was just a little dust...passenger seat must have gotten wet at some point...

Anyway...I got the rust off with a wire brush...primed and painted it with hot rod black two-stage urethane paint.
 
I have new upholstery, new seat foam, and clean frames...the upholsterer should appreciate that...I hope to get them back in a couple weeks or less
 
Super cool! Good luck! While they are gone, are you going to be re-installing the carpet? Or are you doing mat?

I'm doing carpet, but I got to put down Dyna-Mat or something like it first, then carpet with mass backing
 
Got the lock rod...that's one of the most clever ways of packing I have ever seen...
