Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

it'll be ok to drive, but try to get it fixed...

you'll have to cut that nut off if you can't mechanically remove it... maybe try some big visegrips clamped on with steady outward pressure to maybe catch an outward thread and get it off one last time...

you'll have to pull the rotor to put a new stud in... easy enough, but probably a couple hr's work if you've never done it...

It's an acorn nut...not going to be pleasant...

I've had the fronts off once to replace the wheel bearings...but that was before NTB screwed it up...if I remember right, the rotor and hub are one big assembly...the thing that sucks is the castle nut and keepers in there that are a PITA to put back

well, you don't have to worry about f*ckin up the stud... a die grinder with a cutoff arbor/wheel on it and some patience would do it..

and I'm not talking about muffler cutters with the guards, but a die grinder and arbor... a fresh sharp carbide burr could prove helpful too...

How bout I take it back to NTB and make them cut it off....:eek1:

Man, what a different look it has with the big wheels on it though...It was dark and raining and I was pissed so I didn't take an pictures....plus that wheel was stuck on there again and I couldn't get it off...

loosened the lug nuts and drove it through the front yard and over the curb trying to break it loose...no dice...but I sort of trenched the wet ground and my BFGs are full of red mud...don't want to get any on my rear fender wells till I get a chance to black them out with undercoat...

what a day...

It looks so different with the big wheels it takes some getting used to..

Picked up a lug stud today...man I am not looking forward to this

They are easy bro. Dont you not have the dust shields behind the rotors? Maybe you can sneak it in and out with the rotor in place?

This is the first time it has had the BFGs on it with all the trim on

Maybe I'll get to drive it to work on Friday...75 degrees and hopefully no rain..:woot:

Guessing you got the broken stud fixed then? Looks epic no matter what shoes it wears...great job!

You're an inspiration for the rest of us to actually "finish" a build. :doah: :haha:

No I haven't fixed the lug yet, I got the lug and am ready...I just won't have time to put it on until Saturday...hoping that it will be ok with 5 lugs if I decide to drive it on Friday...

Wait!...uh What?

I'm getting confused here. What is all that yellow and white shiny stuff all over your truck, and why does it all match?

Also, how were you able to take photos without the jack stands showing? I still haven't figured out how to do that.

It is all an illusion...it is done with Photoshop's add-on K5 Filter module which eliminates jack stands from all the photos....it's never actually left the driveway, I just change backgrounds :haha:

It will have a jackstand under it soon for a hub removal / lug repair...

Good News - I got the carpet sill strip on

Bad News - The carpet, out of the box, I didn't cut it...was too short by almost 2 inches. I had to close the tailgate and line the sill up and drill new holes...the sill isn't in the exact spot it is supposed to be...but that will have to wait till I can order another bed floor piece of carpet

Good News - I see exactly what needs to be done to get the door windows working correctly

Bad News - The interior door panels have to come back off

When I did mine I thought the carpet would be too short also. Mine did end up going under the strip but not as far as the original was. I know the original carpet strands would twist around the screws and stuff but this carpet didn't do it. With the factory carpet strip, the carpet was long enough. Do you have the right strip in there (don't know, just asking) and did you emphasize the year of your truck when you ordered it? Reason I ask is the company I used said if the rug was incorrect they would send me the correct item as a replacement. You might find out if you have that option. I know that the rugs are different for a 84' and 85' because of the shapes of the floor pan under the front seats. Not a lot different but they are enough that the guy told me they use a different form when making the rugs. I used Stock Interiors out of the Carolinas. Very happy with the rug and their service. Only thing I didn't like was the cheap vents in the door rug panels. I switched them out with the originals.

Doesn't it make you feel so good when you get this far. After having mine all apart it is so satisfying to look at now for the sense of accomplishment. Your truck looks really sweet.
My wife is a big Jaws fan and of course, it was filmed just 10 miles from where I live in Dartmouth MA. A friend of mine who was working for the phone company back then and on the Vineyard was paid for an "extra" many days he was there. The other night they ran all the Jaws series. Saw the original blazer and didn't realize he had a Blue and white Jimmy in another.
