Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

So I here a knock on the door and a loud thud and somebody trying to turn the doorknob to the storm door....I get up cautiously and grab the .45 and make my way to the door...I see the UPS truck leaving and sigh a breath of relief...go back...put up the .45...

Open the door...and there is this pretty large box there...

It has no writing on the outside...I open it and Wow!!!

Look what they sent me:

2 hats, 2 t-shirts, a bag, 2 Giant stickers, a CASE of Brakleen in Red Can!!!
3 large banners (the real thing) and another small box contained 3 very nice die-cut BF GOODRICH decals...these are almost too nice...I think these are made for windshields or sideglass....

I got the tailgate glass back in today...PIA getting the tracks and glass in...

What I cannot figure out now if the thing that goes in the center and the rods attach from each tailgate hinge and the other rod goes up to the inside tailgate opener...can figure out where everything goes...looks like i might be missing a spring too on that center piece

Here's what I having trouble with:

And just for the history lesson, here is what the writing on the piece means.

Republic Steele
Republic Steel was once the third largest steel producer in the United States. It was founded as the Republic Iron and Steel Company in Youngstown, Ohio in 1899.

n 1927, Cyrus S. Eaton acquired and combined Republic with several other small steel companies, with the goal of becoming large enough to rival U.S. Steel. The newly named Republic Steel Corporation was headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, and became America's third largest steel company, trailing only U.S. Steel and Bethlehem Steel after acquiring Bourne-Fuller Steel and the Central Alloy Steel Company (located in Massillon, Ohio) in the 1930s.

I love stuff like this...I love original markings...

I anyone has recently put together this style tailgate, I could use some help

Does this help at all?

no...just wondering where they go...particularly #57

57 is called a stop but the rubber end is intended to have the #53 lock out rod ride on it. 57 is bolted into one of the holes in the center area of the tailgate. The tab goes in one hole and the bolt in the other. 57 has a tab on one end to keep it in place once you bolt it in. The spring goes on the lockout rod and the other end goes into a small hole again in the center sheet metal. I have my tailgate pan on but can take it off to take some pictures. The lock out rod will prevent you from opening the tailgate if the window is not down all the way. If you've got the lock out rod in place it should help you figure out where 57 mounts. Make sure you lube the rod good where it slides through the plastic keeper. The lock out rod interacts with the mechanism via a notch when the window is not down. Put it together like the illustration and you'll be able to figure it out.

The following photos are ok, but not to my specs...I just didn't like the composition of these:
