Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
With that massive vacuum leak plugged it should at least run WAY better lol.. even if it isn't purring yet it'll be a few hundred percent better.

There's a race shop here right across the river from me. As soon as I get the carb on and ignition tuned up. I'll take it over to them and pay the $75 they charge me to adjust the carb and timing right.

When setting it by the book it never seems to be as good as it could be. So I let the pros do it... I should take the time to learn it by ear a little better, but I just haven't yet, and plan on moving to injection eventually anyway. So I'll wait and learn that instead.

Not sure if I want Dizzle injection, or a multiport system on a BB. But it'll have injectors either way lol. Probably do a fitech on this if I can make it run right, then put it on the bee when I figure out what path this is taking.
The bee just has a street version edelbrock that was thrown on right before I got it... It runs great, but it's not a hills/ bouncy terrain carb.

Yep. I was at our calibration bench at work. :D

Nothing like rebuilding your own truck parts and getting paid well to do it lol

Yep. I was at our calibration bench at work. :D

Cool beans! I've got a little bit of a HAM/CB/arduino habit so now I have an electronics bench, gun work bench, reloading bench, and a truck work 2x4' stainless steel table I nabbed from the dumpster at work.

I wish I could sneak that stuff into work so I would actually get something done there!

Where I work they don't care. I can go in at midnight on a saturday and sandblast my rims if I want. Nobody cares. It's an awesome perk.

Before the Homeland security kick picked up there was retired guys bringing in their tractors to weld on and stuff. Now they aren't allowed past the gate though

I have the carb ready to go on. Plus all the tune up stuff is either here, or will be by the time I get off work at 3. So I should get it running better today.

I have trailer work to do first though. I have to reweld some spots in the fenders that broke during the trip. Add a piece of flat stock under the ramp holder to keep em in. Adjust all 4 brakes so they're close to even. And check the bearings and readjust hubs as needed.

THEN I can start on the truck lol... So might not get plugs/wires changed. But should be able to do carb at least..... Maybe cap/rotor n wires.

Don't mind the drunk buddy lol.... He HATES being on camera. Pic, vid, doesn't matter

I haven't went far into this yet, trailer brakes took a while.... I found stuff that didn't belong.

All I did was bolt on the carb. Didn't adjust anything or do any tune up stuff. It idles so far though lol.

Passenger wheels were both over filled with grease. Which got into the brakes. And of course brakes work AWESOME with a heavy dose of grease :surepal:

And the crew cab keeps getting closer and closer to a Bee motor.
I Pulled the dipstick on this one because I realized I hadn't done that yet, and the oil is a neat shade of metallic silver/black lol.
I'm going to change it and then rechange it soon after to see if it cleans up. Lotta metal powder in there though.

I may just buy the tires for this, and put them on the bee n drive it. That way I can sell the silverado yet. And So I can do this one slow and right.

I put the wheels n tires I got on it last night... They're plain so no pics.. but I got pics of some other interesting things.

First... Front hubs are different... Not sure how or why

As soon as I get it all in my name and such I'm going to swap a bunch of stuff from the Bee and sell the bee to fund this project. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that that's my only real way forward. For the type of wheeling around here this truck will be more than capable enough. And after I get this and some other things lined out I'll get back to a dedicated 4x toy.
