Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
Kind of a good thing it's dented already lol

Think this would make it run funny ? :haha:

I really need 45* wires.

In hind sight I should have inspected them when I swapped engines but I just figured it ran like it was, and I was gonna spend money where it was needed first.

I thought they had these pieces of tube on there for vibration/rubbing protection. Nope :doah:

Wire routing is much better now. And if I had taken more time it would have maybe looked better.

One of these is different than the other... Number 1 cylinder had about a .020 gap.

And clearly wasn't firing right

Baking the oil out of the heat sleeves

Number one had a bad gap... 3-4 look rich maybe. Rest are ok.

Told the wife it felt like I was cooking ribs lol
What? Never seen that one before.
The old valve cover gaskets leaked before it went in here. And then during the swap I got oil all over at one point and a few got it again.. Andi think that oil was transferring heat through them... Not to mention oil soaking the insulation.
So I came up with this idea lol.

Seems to have worked. They all felt dry and all had stopped smoking . Slid them over the new wires and re routed. Shouldn't have as much issue now.

Those sleeves were so soaked that I could squeeze one and liquid oil beaded up and ran down my hand.:doah:

I'm just not that creative in my problem-solving ability. I would have tossed them and bought new. :dunno:
Good to know it worked out.

O'Rileys didn't have any sleeves, and I needed it to run... But didn't want to ruin new wires in the time it took to order a set.... So out came the grille lol.

I kept it about as hot as I could get it for probably 3 hrs. Flipping them now and then, and tending to the fire.

Wife was sort of upset though.

She's been almost begging me to get the stuff to grille this spring. And the first time I do I grille truck parts :haha:

Sounds like the only problem here is your lack of daily Summit racing delivery's. :haha:

I had a steady stream of Amazon deliveries going on for a while. Not all truck stuff, but a pretty decent majority for a bit.

Forgot to mention that I re-contoured the fangs. I just don't like the defanged look.
I also made a little room at the back of the inner fenders with my foot.

I used autolite 26's, and the 90* morosos I had laying around.

Runs NICE. Can't believe I did DNT notice them wires.
Lesson learned
