Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
At some point I'll have to spin off the 81 and the 85 into different threads. Now that I'll have 2 shortened CC builds going.

81 will stay here as it began. But the 85 will become the Daily this one was going to be...

That was when I didn't think I could get the title. Got that on the way basically now. The 85 will still get built, but ever since I bought the bee I've been trying to figure out how to make it haul 5 people in side. So since I have 2 titleable CC's it makes more sense to build them and use the bee for parts... As I've said before a page or 2 back.

Title issue came up after bringing it home. Eric bought it as parts and had a signed title that would fly in his state. But never tilted it since he didn't need to. I bought it, brought it all the way home and signed the title. Our DMV didn't like the way it was signed due to some fine print and said NO. Since I had signed it I couldn't send it back to Eric for him to transfer it to himself and send it back to me with the stuff that would make Iowa happy... So at that point I wanted a clean body with a title to put on the clean frame of the 81. Started the search, and found the 85.
Traded off the 2015 to get it, and free money up for the build. Then Iowa finally came through with the bonded title I had applied for months ago and never heard back.
Now that they finally got in gear I CAN get a title for the 81. Which changed my plans up for the better.
I got the certificate back Friday, got it bonded, and sent it back to them the same day. As soon as they get it they'll set up a day and time for me to have it inspected to make sure it has all lights n wipers and such. After that I get a certificate to take BACK to the DMV and get an actual title. Which hopefully will be super soon.

Oh, also got this a little bit ago:woot:

I'm wondering if I even have to get it inspected. I put in my paper work that I just bought an old beat up farm truck to rebuild it. Hoping to have them value it lower. Soooo...?:dunno:

I do know how. But buying the materials would put me at half what this cost. And if I needed to have the 81 inspected it had to be trailered. So I was thinking time/cost

The deep step bumper that was on the dually was definitely not going to work with the new hitch. So I changed it out with the bumper from the 81 for now. Not in great shape but it'll do the job till I find a good one..
I also got my new wire plug installed. I do need to finish the trailer brake install though and run those wires.

As for the hitch, it's NOT a bolt in like the add said lol.. No matter though. Nothing a few drilled holes and a notch or 2 won't fix.

No issue man. Lol. If I hadn't signed it when I did I could have sent it back to do there... But oh well. Done now :waytogo:.

Now I have one small issue for moving forward.... I don't have a cherry picker, gantry, A-frame, etc..:doah: Hard to move all the big parts around with 2 medium sized guys and no heavy lifting crap available lol. Think I may have to finally pull the trigger on a few purchases. I already have a steel list for an a frame made up. Probably graft out a blueprint at work soon.

And I forgot to ask last night, but my grandpa has a brand new HF 2 ton cherry picker that he bought to lift his disabled GF into the van, but quickly realized it wouldn't work. So he stuffed it in the garage and forgot about it. Been there about 2 years. I'm going to offer him $125 and see if he says yes or lower.

Offer him 75

Being him I'll offer $125, but I'd be shocked if he took more than $75 lol. If anything at all.

Got the cherry picker from my G'pa. And went to HF and decided I was buying their gantry, only to find out a guy bought it while I was thinking about it :doah:.

I was going to build one, but decided that theirs is a good enough deal. Plus I don't want to wait till I build one to start on these trucks lol. My plan called for about $500 in materials, and theirs is only $600 lol.
