Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
I noticed some spots a while ago that I just didn't pay attention to before.

I may be using the 81 as the base for my DD/tow rig instead. First set of pics are from the dually.
There's more that I didn't even take pics of. The rockers, floor, corners, etc, are all actually really good some how though lol

81 Wyoming truck.

It has minimal rust started inside rockers. Doors all need replaced (probably from dually cab :dunno:)
And there's a dent in rear passenger side of cab. Visible sort of in last pic and previous pics in the thread.

Which cab would you try fixing for a good truck?

Leftover cab and parts becomes the toy.

If your seeing rust coming through sections of the roof there's an extremely strong probably that it's pretty well rusted in between the inner and outer skins.

After and still dealing with rust on the cab of mine. I'd use which ever one has the least. Rust repair eats up a lot of time and energy to due right.

Yeah, them roof areas look way too hard to make right lol. Floors and rockers aren't so bad to fix.

I'm thinking 81 cab, dually's doors, total start over on interior

I had considered the 81 to be the worst of the two. Mainly because some how I missed that rust and because of that smash in the back of the cab that looks hard to fix.

After seeing that rust, that dent doesn't look so hard to fix anymore lol.

This is under the 81 and that dent.

Dually has virtually no visible rust underneath on the rockers or cab mounts.

That's why I'm sort of torn on which is better to fix up lol. They both have some not so great spots... I still think the 81 is the easiest to fix probably though

Get yourself a stud gun or tack weld some 16D nails in that dent and pull it right out. I had some real good dents in my crew that I fixed with nails and a slide hammer, works great. That cab rust up in the door frame looks like no fun. I think the dent and the rocker are easier fixes and that's a 4wd truck anyway.

Ugh, my dodge has roof lights being a 3500. I hate them. I change them every couple years because otherwise they leak, right into the cab, on my right leg usually.

Ordered some things today... To the tune of about $2500.

First, with no pics, was a load of steel to make an adjustable, 10' wide, gantry crane. Should be able to do 2 ton according to the steel store dude.

Then a set of wheels, 35" Terra grapplers, and a band saw to help with the gantry build. Plus it's just always nice to have one lol.

I have to build the gantry crane in the next week or so (hopefully). And get the cordoba out of the way before I can start.

I'm hoping on good (enough) weather, and enough free to coincide lol
