Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
I was actually going to leave the 6700ish rpm limiter in the terminator for the gen 6 if putting it in the burb. Used 7k as a quick number lol. Was thinking of whatever safe rpm I could get from a forged and balanced rotating assembly and a full roller valvetrain.

You telling me about the coil on plug thing for the gen6 in a different thread a long time ago is what made me look that direction. Already found the stuff from an L21 that I'd need. Just haven't bought it. That's the route I'm going with that engine no matter what it goes in though.

The more I thought about it while typing it in that post, the more I leaned towards big block for the trucks. My LS does awesome above 3k. Comes alive like crazy and pulls HARD to 6k
I had it in my mind that if I was in low enough gear, to be crawling at 3-4 k it would have MORE than enough power and torque. With a different cam mine could easily hit 500 ftlbs in that zone. 500 ftlbs is 500ftlb, no matter what is making it. Lol. And really all that's actually needed for wheeling.
But yeah, I'm still thinking BB will stay. I love the fact that with 35" tires and 3.73s I can do a burnout while rolling 5mph in 1rst, (not granny) with just a blip of the pedal. And my semi built LS can't hardly do one power braking lol.

I originally built the LS with turbo in mind. Hence the terminator setup.
Wanted it for the electronic boost control part. But the more videos I watch of turbo setups I realized turbo sounds piss me off. The stu stu stu, flutter, and whine make me angry for some reason. Not sure why :dunno: . But I figure having a 6000# machine with MASSIVE power at my control, and going into a rage is a bad idea lol. So I just kind of quit thinking of doing it.
Twin screws don't seem to bother me though lol. :D
I have spun my autozone stock 6.0 bottom end to 7,000 plenty of times. :haha:

Started making a receiver winch mount out of some metal I had around.
It's farther out than I wanted really. But it'll do for now. I'll either modify it or replace it later when I get another winch.

Around here, if I'm by myself (truck wise) and have the family with, it'd be better to winch backwards.
If I get stuck going up a road in snow or mud it makes more sense to pull back out and go a different way.
So for now I'll have a receiver style.

I still have to cut the bumper more and get it positioned right. And double up the front pull points.
There will be a plate underneath also.
Both the top plate, and bottom plate will also bolt to the frame, and be welded to the whole cross bar.

Weld store was out of plasma tips for me, so I used chitty ones and got rougher openings than I wanted. Oh well. Just a bigger gap to fill. Wish I had a bigger welder though.

Soon as this one's done Ill make one for the rear too.
The rear bumper on this is actually just bolted on with two 1/2" bolts. So that won't do lol

Be sure to make a high visibility mount for your hi- lift!

What size are those Rick?
mine clear good stuffed as far as I have ever had it, they’re 39.5 x 15 TSL’s, which are truly 39.5+ tall and wide. EZ inch moved forward an inch, and 6” lift springs

They're 40x13.5.
I have the axle moved forward an inch and around 5"-5.5" of lift. Going by the measure from axle to frame method anyway. 4.5" backspace

Same lift as my crew cab and I had to cut way more than I expected when I installed the 40s.

With this truck and it's future plan, I have free reign to cut whatever and where ever I need to lol.
Truthfully, I'd like to clearance it so that I can go to a 4" ORD lift. I planned on calling them and seeing what's recommended. I do remember Stephen saying somewhere that the 4" custom is actually flexier than the 6" ends up being.
I was thinking 4", zero rates (maybe), and
If possible at that lift level, crossover and high steer.
I like the low lift, big tire look.

As it is, I'm not sure, but I think I have to cut into my radiator support even. I gotta flex it out to see.
It may not be as close as it appears.

Firewall side seems good so far.
I got a little room up front now, but not enough.
I guess this is where my freakishly huge bump stops will help some for now.

Crudely done, but it'll get me by for now. I need to find a good place to flex it and see what else I'll run into

Lol.. that's why I said I have to have a place to flex it for real . :thumb:

That pic showing clearance is a level truck :haha: . I wasn't even trying to jack flex it yet. I'll do that yet for fun though.
I have more cutting/hammering to do for sure lol.

The axle is an inch forward now. Even stuffed up I'm not sure about the firewall. But it is definitely going to hit the core support lol. If it hits the firewall... The sledge hammer will come out :waytogo:
