Should I buy this Blazer?

DO IT!! :saweet::waytogo:
But don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket. If it's not right, walk away. If it feels good, buy it. Once you are home again, upgrade your membership here and consider it the best money ever spent. :D

Yes sir. that's the plan. Thanks again!

Again... Id rebrowse a few links I posted for AZ ones. If youre going carb engine.

Im not fan of those “classic car” sales places. They always have shiny paint. If youre spending that kind of money. Id make the time to drive or have someone you know drive it. Hell , maybe CK5 member is close by the vehicle.

Also for 15-21k you could easily buy a cheaper nicer truck and LS swap for under the 15k youre asking.

You seem to like shiny paint and have the $ to spend. So, ultimately, its you're choice. The 78’ I linked earlier is far nicer and half the price.

These classic car places are always more money than a private seller. They have overhead, employees and on and on.

Far cheaper and to me, better. But I prefer the round eye era trucks:

I'm in the Oklahoma City area.

I like that truck. I have been looking at those links you gave. I have the money to spend right now. I was saving for 2 yrs for the new Ford Bronco's that are coming out this year but after consideration, I have decided that i'd rather get something more classic that's awesome for 1/2 the price rather than dumping what is probably going to be $40 - 50K into a new Bronco and then taking the depreciation hit.

i have just been in a mode of financing the purchase and getting something more complete rather than something cheaper and having to spend my capital on the upgrades I'd want to do to it....

Maybe I need to reconsider..... just tough decision :) Seems like so many ways I can go with this. And it's not every day that i have the money I have right now to spend on a vehicle.... So just trying to make the best decision.

The help you guys have given me so far has been extremely useful.

In all honestly the 79” I linked going on looks alone is better, to my eyes. Just because they cost more doesn't mean they're more complete.

These trucks are never truly “done” or “complete” anyway hahaha. Thats half the fun is the journey in driving and working on them. And you will be working on them. That is a guarantee.

So use some of that money for tools, a nice CK5 membership and Chevy manuals, instead of side molding on the blazer. Hehe.

If I were you, and had the money, I would stick to $10kish or less ballpark. You have a better chance of maybe possibly breaking even if you sold it and it wont destroy you buying and working on it. And if it did turn out to be more than you bargained for, as far as what it needs, you can dump it and not lose too much $.

If you have $16k cash or even 20k cash... It would be highly advised to keep half of that for down the road working on your blazer. Instead of spending more now and having little left over. You will be putting money into regardless of the shine ie. condition you purchased it in...

I hear you and am starting to agree with you more and more.... Now need to plan on how'd I'd get that truck home from Arizona :)

Also Im not trying to piss on your parade or be Mr.Negative just offering up some advice or insight into what Ive experienced with these vehicles. Buy cheaper keep more $ for down the road, you’ll need it.

Ok hate to ask about another one... but what do you guys think of this one? I'm thinking I'd offer $15K on it.

Does it look like a polished turd to you guys or a solid truck?

Looks like a polished something to me. I wouldn't necessarily say turd. But again there is a few things that make me question an above $20k price tag and again it is from the same dealership. Honestly, I feel that this place is marking up the prices ridiculous amounts and hopes to find people with more money than brains. Again, to ask over $20k and the rear bumper is twisted?! The tailgate panel has paint chipped off it. The exhaust ends pretty much right under the rear seat. I bet that truck gets fumes inside the cab. The transfer case crossmember mounting is questionable. Stacked nuts? What the hell is up with the cable going from the battery to the alternator bracket. Notice the underside of the electric fans, yes that is a marker signature from when that was pulled from the junkyard.

Yeah I am being picky but maybe I am not when we are talking $20k+

Me personally, I would avoid that dealer. I would avoid a dealer all together. They buy those vehicles with the sole purpose to flip them for profit. They know pretty much nothing in regards to the history of the vehicle. I would much rather give $20k to a guy that owned his truck for a long time and can give you lots of background on it (even better with proof) or even tell you all about the things that he himself did to the truck

Keep this idea in your head. Just because you got approved for a $20k loan don't mean you need to buy one for that price.

Lots of options as people have pointed out. Squarebody blazers are increasing in popularity and because of that the value has gone up. But the pricing for average 87-91 fuel injected units with decent paint and not tore up are under $20k for sure. Keep looking.

Definitely not pissing on my parade.... last thing I want to do is spend $20+k thinking I've got a truck with minimal maintenance needs and then I'm still having to dump money into it for repairs. that wouldn't be good.

Very good points! Really trying not to be one of those guys with more money than brains. So really appreciate the advice.

I think the one in San Antonio is worth looking into maybe try bringing him down to 10k.
It's clean unpretentious has new tires, supposedly rebuilt engine and is closer to you.

Just heard back from him.... it already sold....

I bought my 89 Jimmy almost 4 years ago for $3500. Its all original as far as I know, had either 120 or 220,000 miles on the ticker when I got it. It has fuel injection, overdrive, cold AC, cruise control, and power windows and locks. It has served as my daily driver since buying it and has never let me down. I have put over 30,000 miles on it and have probably spent less than 1000$ in repairs in the last 4 years on it for only minor things. It is reliable as hell and I regularly drive it 250+ miles at a time without it missing a beat. The paint is still halfway decent but it has some rust in the normal places but the interior is almost mint. I love it. Point being you don't need to drop 20k on a k5 to get a good reliable daily driver. I would actually be more inclined to trust an original truck that has been well maintained and hasn't been totally redone or "modified" questionably than one of these shiners from a classic car dealer. My advice is to stick to local craigslist and facebook marketplace and find a good, unmolested driver and just drive it. They don't have to be 20k to be reliable.

It’s the best of what you've posted thus far.
Private seller? Go drive and buy.

Quick loom, Starter looks a bit old but (easily changed if needed)... little dribble on the dust cover but that is very common and why that hole exists. Another “spot” on the bottom of oil filter.

Others with a better may eye see more but, honestly if he’s asking 10k you may be able to sneak away for $8.5...
