This is my buildup/conversion of a 89 crewcab c3500. I will be converting to 4wd and a shortbed . This is not going to be a hardcore crawler just a extremely capable daily driver .I am nuts I know.

welcome to Colorado K5. i see you became a paying member, ive learned that its the best $25 i have ever spent on my truck. nice project btw, how do you plan on building it and do you have any other pics?

Thanks ! I should have more pics up this weekend. My plan is a mildly lifted shortbed crewcab 4wd . Daily driver/adventure vehicle. So far I have added a 1 inch body lift(hocky pucks), requisite huge offroad bumper I ganked off my trail truck. I have installed a diy4x4 B52 kit up front and am in the middle of adding the front shackle hangers now,(also from diy). Busy work schedule, rain and TOO HOT aweather have been slowing me down. I still have to yank the front 2wd suspension put in the new engine crossmember and then I can start on the back.

Sounds like a neat truck you've got going there, can't wait to see more pics. What part of the state are it in?

as kurt said, if you plan to drive the truck on the road take the hockey pucks out and get an aluminum body lift from ORD or a composite body lift from Performance Accessories. whats the deal with the C60 or C70 thats next to your truck in the second pic?

The pucks are maybe were a inexpensive way to gain clearance for the transfercase.Being a 2wd cab the trans tunnel is lower/smaller.What is the reason for swapping to aluminum? I only need that one inch of clearance .The truck in the second pick was being sold too.I bought my truck from a local city auction. The blue one in the first pic I just sold.

the name says it all ( HOCKEY PUCK ) not lift block. :doah:

its not designed for the loads and demands for a body lift.

OK a ord body lift will be added to the things to do list.It is on the back burner tho I need that truck off jackstands first.

Ok the pucks shall be replaced with ord aluminum after I get it off jack stands. Here are some pics with bumper ,bedliner lower sides and the 8 lug 10 bolt I am gonna thow under the front.

Yes its from blazenoffroad, Its stout. The truck was a city maintenance unit, it wasn't too beat and has air so I figured it would make a good base. Here are some pics of the b-52 hangers I got from diy4x4.They are where I have been getting most of my parts. My bud has my air compressor so I had to drill out, grind out and beat out the rivets for the rad. support brackets. Not fun. But the new pieces look great in there.

Yes actually I have the holes cut already . I measured off my 4wd frame and went one inch forward and whatever the amount needed to clear the frame up .

you work fast or you have already done this work and you are just showing the pics now! have you had any trouble lifting the truck with the engine hoist? it really looks like its coming along.

The last picture that I posted was from about 3 or so weeks ago. Rain and such has kept me from it.

No, haven't had trouble lifting the truck with the engine hoist. However, I came home one day after a week of rain...and the hoist had tipped over in the soft dirt of my yard. The truck was nose first in the dirt!

I have since put jacks on top of boards under the truck to keep it from happening again.

Important question !

I want to make my truck a shortbed. When I start on the rear, I am chopping the frame off in the back and moving the rear end forward .I have a diy4x4 1 ton shackle flip kit, 6 inch shackles, and custom rear spring hangers that I made using diy4x4 spring hangers , and a rufftuff specialties large frame mounting platform and quarter inch plate . Before I drill and bolt all that together, should I use the springs that are on the truck ( 56 inch one tons) or should I use 62 inch 3/4 ton inch springs for a softer ride. The ride doesn't seem bad now, but it is not a work truck. It is a daily driver/light trail truck. I am wanting more of a nice ride than extreme flex. I want something that will ride good on the road.

Thanks for any help/info.

No its durn flat . Mud and some farm trails only . Drive 2 or three hours north and it gets good though morris mtn. and gray rock .I haven't been to either yet tho. My trail truck needs a new motor and um a lot more work as usual .
