So how much are square bodies worth?

It will be interesting to see if the NADA values follow suit...and will insurance companies like State Farm also increase the amount of coverage on their policies because they basically value them as squat right now...that's why I have Hagerty.

i'm wondering if anyone remembered how much a similarly equipped 86 suburban was NEW, keeping in mind those aluminum wheels where not available.

Despite the fact that i don't know/remember the original pricing, i feel that $19.6 is not too overpriced IF the big block really has only 58,000 miles. Although i feel that if you could find a rust free suburban, you could build the equivalent, with wheels for much cheaper...........

But if you factor in the time it would take to build one AND consider what the equivalent truck (like a 2018 suburban) new available now would cost, then i don't think 19.6 is too outlandish.

I like these old trucks, but even in new condition they are noisy deathtraps compared to a 2018 equivalent. Taking the family across the country at 85 mph in an old Sub would be an ordeal. Taking them cross country in a 2018 Sub would be high luxury. I guess I'm saying they are hobby or collector cars at this point, or around town work trucks. Not primary transportation for most.

i haven't read any posts, but.... I'm utterly amazed at what some people ask for rigs these days on FB.. 6, 7, 8 g's for something a few yr's ago would have been a 2500 to $3500 rig.. than ya see the clean CC with a bit of work or paint on it and it's like 23 g's or some sh*t...

I thought this front end was a later mode year? I don't see why you'd want to swap front ends if it weren't model year correct if you're gonna go the '63k original miles' route.

Yeah it's been swapped and I bet most bidders had no clue...lol

I have been in a couple of accidents in square body trucks, and very time the person that hit me was seriously injured. My square body engine never even missed a beat and shut off. I was able to drive my truck into a parking lot and park it, while the person that hit me had to be extracted out of there vehicle on a back-board. Their vehicle was sitting in the middle of the road spitting out every fluid it had on the road. My square body never lost a drop of fluid. That is what I get for being an evil "red neck" that drives a full size American truck, and not a tree hugging liberal in a Toyota Prius.

Yup. I had a newer F150 bounce off my bumper a few months ago. Not even a scratch I could see on my DIY4x bumper, but his front end had thousands in damage (bumper, grill, hood). I just gave him my info and left. To be fair, newer vehicles sacrifice themselves for the occupants. I'd rather be in a modern vehicle in a high speed collision, hands down.

I have had people tell me that modern vehicles are better than my old square body in an accident, but from the square body versus newer vehicle crashes I have been in, and the results I have seen with my own eyes...I AM NOT BUYING IT.
