That was fast! Must of been in good shape and good price
Not really. Various bits are in need or restoration. Might be in good enough condition to be a daily driver, and the one thing that's a bit different about this one is how the prior owner added a fiberglass lip all around the roof so that it overlaps the walls and the rainwater can go down the wall sides instead of pool in the flat area where the roof ordinarily sits. Utterly dumb original design of Chinook's not to overlap the walls.

I don't know, all these people keep saying original then they start enumerating the things that have been changed. And the condition of this one and he wants 10k
Chalet #1539, been for sale for years in that area, ever since 2008 when it was first listed on a Cars dot com ad for $2650 in pretty much the same condition. Hard to pin down if it's been the same seller the whole time. In a June 2018 Craigslist ad, the seller was only asking $5800, while the ebay listing for it a month later only went up to $6850.
Haven't yet gotten a response from the seller as to which serial number this one is.

Hi-jack on:

How much does that front spare tire mount w/ tire impact cooling? Im guess not an issue during winter months, but during summer in hot climate is that an issue?

hi-jack off.

Never had a problem with cooling and I was pushing it.
The gap between the tire and the grill is big enough and the fan is still pulling through the air it doesn't need to come straight from a mile away

I don't think that there were that many 400 put in the chalets, mine was a 350,just seen 1 it was a jimmy .

No issues what so ever on cooling. Years of experience from phoenix in summer to calgary ab in winter....
In later years upgraded the cooling slightly by swapping in the bbc rad - clutch fan and 2005 plastic fan...i also recommend a psi operated switch to a fan on the condensor...does wonders for your a/c.

Looks real nice, but out of 10 pix, none of it up ,or the stove, ref, heater ,the table, cotes,it about the camper.

...out of 10 pix, none of it up....
Yup, I coudln't do a thing to figure out which one it was with just the one single pic they first put online, but now there's a bunch more. Took me a while to find the time to look this one up in my pile of references. It's Chalet #0653, built in 8/76.

Polished up nice, but that's about it. I have pics of when I first spotted it in a Roscommon MI Craigslist ad for $5500 in June 2010, and from the looks of it now, essentially no restoration work has been done to it beyond swapping out the aftermarket chrome spoke wheels for rallys. Same non-original camper area carpet, same house-style doorknob on the camper door, same skewed rear bumper with the rumples on the top passenger side, same scuffed-up area on the upper rear passenger side where a porch light was probably installed, same faded rear door decal.

As most hard-core car guy aficionados know, the money value in classics is in the properly-restored-to-factory-showroom-appearance vehicles. This ain't it, all it has going for it is a heckuva superficial spit-shine.
