Somebody here is tracking Chalets...not sure if this one is accounted for?

...sent a private message to the seller asking if he could send a photo ...
Another eagle-eye pal of mine spotted the seller's Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace ads, so I thought I'd give both of those a chance to see if the seller could either share or post a photo of the SN plate. At FB Marketplace an hour ago, the guy first answered "No have a good day" even before I could add in the above photo I had of the possible 2012 SN plate / aerial photo. When I did post that, he immediately replied "What do u want" "How may we help u if you’re not a Buyer do not waste my time" "Says in add send ur number for info". I literally copied 'n pasted my original question about sharing / posting a photo of the serial number plate, to which he responded, "U can’t read" "Send ur number for info" "Ok well have a good day just gonna block u scammer," At the risk of being impolite, I'd say his remark there indicates it is actually he who cannot read. When I tried to reply to that last string with a link to my 'for sale' map that guys here at CK5 and elsewhere tap into to buy these rigs and orphaned camper units ... he's blocked me. So I sent my reply with that map link to his Craigslist temporary address instead. Wasn't holding my breath for a reply, but give the guy this much credit for first responding with "I don’t need help to sell my unit if you don’t have cash do not contact me again" to which I replied to describe how I've facilitated sales for two decades and linked to the guy in Germany who'd bought Chalet #0638 years back on my relay of the seller's contact info. Just seconds later this CA seller replied to that with "Please do not message me again one more time I’m not giving you information on it. You’re not a buyer." followed right after that with a separate email reply of "Not for sale to you get this through your head".

Okelly Dokelly, since he did say "please," I'll abide by that. I could write a book about my exchanges with sellers since 2005. One guy was so appreciative about my info on his Casa Grande that he decided to pull his add and keep the rig and use it for serious camping. Other guys added pics of the SN plates to their ads and thanked me for my info on the wisdom of doing that. But for contrast, when I did a phone call in 2013 to the one guy selling Chalet #1102, he was so hostile about sharing just the number of the SN plate that I almost hung up on him. But with a little patience, I hung in there and he then divulged that he had an original Chinook blueprint to go with the rig, but if I was not a buyer, he wasn't going to lift a finger to share any info about it. He got more hostile when I tried to talk him into getting a copy made of the blueprint which I said I'd pay for. That was the last time I called any seller, I don't need that kind of aggravation. Funny thing there, it took him another three years and 23 more Craigslist relistings before he could apparently finally unload his rig. The next flipsaler of it two months later in Florida never answered a single one of my PMs asking if the blueprint came with the rig.

... guy did actually send a couple of photos!!
No worries whatsoever on any delay, and many, many thanks for providing those! Who knows what the seller's problem was in doing the same courtesy with me, but at least from that kind helpful gesture he did with you, now I can put this one into my above-mentioned 'for sale' map.

Forgive me if I missed a post with this one ...
No worries, always welcoming more eyes to be on the lookout for these. Yep, that one is the #1522 '77 Chalet seen just above in the posts #597-602. Hostile seller if a person asking him about it is not a buyer, took down the Craigslist ad soon after, but no word yet anywhere if anybody spotted it afterward. That color scheme is a bit of a standout.

I think I've seen this one before:
If you remember as far back as when our CK5 man @RootBreaker posted about it in his May 7, 2019 #141 comment, you have it right. It's Chalet #0984, built in 9/76. Looks like some engine work has been done to it in the interim time, and the white wheels / dog dish hubcaps (which may have been originals) have been swapped out in favor of rallys. Many thanks for catching this one, I can get the screengrabs of the listing and new ad text for my permanent paper printout files for these.

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this one before. I’ll just put here incase I’m wrong.
You are right, back in June 2025, but it is nevertheless good that you snagged the relisting of it since sometimes they don't stay online long enough for me to snag screengrabs to use for my permanent paper printouts. Got what I needed minutes ago. This one is Chalet #0828, I'd put it into our eBay-spotted listings back in Sept 2023 when the prior flipsaler was desperately trying to sell it, I'll update that thread shortly. This current seller has been underwater ever since he got it somewhere around Nov 2023, and the previous FB Marketplace listing he had running (right up until this new one) first came out in early Dec 2024. Before that, he tried three eBay Buy-it-Now listings in March and April 2024, and his first FB Marketplace listing in mid-Dec 2023 was only 38 days after the prior FB Marketplace flipsaler listed it.

No offense to the current seller, but I count at least a half dozen errors in his description. Among them is the new assertion that "restore the truck to perfect condition it would be worth over 150k possibly 225k." No, it would be worth about $100k less than his low figure, when you factor out the three anomaly bidders of Chalet #0429 that auctioned at Bring a Trailer for $125 grand in March 2021, where those three had no clue what they were looking at (a supposedly pristine never-sold-frome-the-1976-dealership rig ... that had a used car dealer logo plate on the back) while everyone else bailed out after the $47,500 point. Scroll down just a few spots in the comments section at that BaT auction, and you see the winning bidder griping about 'honesty' and undisclosed rust.

Excellent, huge thanks!! From that one I found his other listing https://www.facebook.com/groups/1518442571794686/?multi_permalinks=3911118932527026 which is public-viewable, and that enables me to snag it all for my permanent paper printout records (kept these days in a fireproof safe). This one is Chalet #0713, been wondering what its status was after a reserve-not-met auction listing by these folks in Nov 2024. This rig has non-original redone stripes, and its larger estate sale situation included a trailer painted to match the rig, plus one other orphaned camper unit which I never got the serial number to.

And THAT right there, friends, is what a Craigslist scam looks like. Every one of those photos are from the March 2021 Bring a Trailer $125,000 auction of Chalet #0429: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-chevrolet-blazer-10/ (the one portrayed as 'never-left-the-1976-dealership' which had a used car dealer logo plate on the back, but that's a whole other story)

Thanks for that alert, I got the necessary screengrab of the listing I collect for my permanent paper printouts. If anyone wants to have some fun with the scammer, dial up that number and say you are from the Colorado Attorney General's office of fraud investigation, and count the milliseconds until you hear the guy hang up.

What amazes me now is that the guy hasn't taken the listing down yet. If I could be a fly on the wall when the person gets a genuine call from the CO AG's office ....
