Stomis' 94 Street Truck - Snail Trail

Idk what happened the garage is empty :D

Took her for a spin. The steering is great, guess I did my math right.

Also the front end is starting to lift from getting weight off it. Between the crossmember, steering, and the bumper. Guess Im going to switch in the 1" drop springs I have. Ive still got the front section of the frame rails and lightening the core support so Im sure another 40 lbs or so are going to come off way out in front of the front end.

your on the right track to fast!
diggin the updates.

Seriously the P.O. should be ashamed of the body work he did on this truck. It was kind of a given when I found the rockers were "repaired" with spray foam and mud...

I had to rework all 4 spots where the bottom of the bedside met the wheel well. The patches were done so poorly the quantity of bondo is absurd in some places. Not 1/2in of bondo absurd but there certainly some 1/4in spots... The drivers side wasnt terrible, minor skim coat over the existing body work after removing what was popping from zero prep prior to application in some places. The passenger side required some severe straightening though, and both back sections that wrap around to the tail pan had to be fixed up to. Im getting better at this body work stuff but I still hate it...

Little bit of primer and the bed will be ready to be squirted. I would have redone the patches but the truck is destined for a new bed down the road when I backhalf it and Im trying not to wrap myself up and drastic projects with it anymore.

In the front Ive got a small repair to make on the passenger fender. The return at the bottom of the fang that the plastic filler screws to has rotted off. I need to weld a small new piece in there then I can spray the front end. Only thing left to fix is the rockers and cab corners and shoot the interior and jams flat black.

Got a damn good steal on some front runner draglites. $150 for 2 15x3.5s that just need a polishing. Gotta get some skinnies and $100 more lugnuts now...

Im also eyeing up chopping up my core support and getting a bigger radiator. Ive noticed that this 4.3 rad gets heatsoaked when you turn the truck off and takes like 10 mins of driving to cool back down from 220. I was going to order a new core support but the shipping is insane... I think I'll just fix the issue spots on mine while Im doing the metal work. Not sure if my layout is visible in the picture but I'm basically going to run 2 pieces of 3/4 chromo connecting the two side of the support and ditch everything in the middle. Hopefully I'll be able to sink the universal rad into the core to open the engine bay up even more. Once I get that and the frame horns replaced with tube the inner fenders are getting ditched and the fenders gutted to skins. They weigh like 40lbs each, I figure I can cut that in half. Then I need to get some g body springs for the front because its just too damn nose light for truck springs now...

Honestly who needs those :D

Loads of room :D

Also notched back for tierod clearance. Basically the plan is to cap the frame and bend up some chromo at work tomorrow to remount the core support. Then I'll cap tubes with basically a piece as a structural bumper for behind the fiberglass bumper cover. That tube will also give me a place for dzus brackets to mount the glass bumper.

Got the tubes bent up at work and on the truck today.

Body mount to be

Front of the bar will get cut back and capped with a bumper bar that follows the core support.

And heres a couple shots of the flanges I CNC'd at work for a custom supercharger carb enclosure.

ya gotta bring that thing by in the spring for a romp...

I like the weight savings!

Supercharger carb enclosure? For a customer?

Front end mounted. On to chopping up the core support...

I need to get some stuff for my TIG. The standard torch nozzle sucks... Need a diffuser

Got the rad support all chopped up last night.

Originally the plan was to tube the top and the bottom. There was just no real weight to be saved to be honest so I just went for the function of having the top removable for easy access to the front of the motor.

1" .083 DOM. Removable on flanges.

I pulled the core support off to have it blasted tomorrow. Still have some rot spots left to repair.

I also put an order in to speedway motors. Turned my funds from my old unused MAF into a nice new aluminum double core, cross flow radiator with 1" tubes. Apparently the large tube size they are using now is making 2 cores cool better than 3 cores. Went for the big boy at 31x19, plus since its cross flow the inlet and outlet are on the passenger side, so no more top hose stretched across the engine bay.

Also ordered a 1.75in bend of exhaust tube to modify my header. Despite my insisting the steering shaft would clear, and I guess technically it does, it likes to tear the wrap off the number 3 primary. So I'll be modifying that...
