Stomis' 94 Street Truck - Snail Trail

Hotside all done. Still waiting on my Gates.

Great work, I really like the way you mounted the turbo, routed the headers & plumbed the hot side.
Are you concerned that there is no compliance between the engine and the turbo? The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to piece together a similar set up in an old AMX and will have to mount the turbos low and forward. It looks like you have a solid mount for the turbo and I'm assuming the engine has solid mounts too which is what I'm planning on, but I'm worried about stress on all the tubes between the two being a weak point. I might be over thinking things...

Vibrant and other companies do make some high quality flex pieces you can run. Every race effort non DD build I've ever done, or just worked on in general was solid solid solid.

My motor is solid mounted, if that hotside cracks because of movement something else is wrong or it's just resonance. But I can't see that either, with everything bolted up tight that hotside is solid as a mofo.

Your set up definitely looks stout enough...keep the pics coming & thx for the info.

Well if you needed the tight bends to clear the tie rod under bump then so be it. Its always hard to judge how much hp you lose from stuff like that, which is why I just make it as free flowing as I possible can. But sometimes you need a tight bend for clearance reasons, I understand that.

I'm glad you don't mind my questions, I'm always thinking about the details on how stuff works and so I am always questioning myself too, but sometimes it likely comes across as rude and that's never my intention. I just like to make people think more deeply about what they are doing, it usually works out for the better. Keep on keepin' on and I'll keep on watching. I still want to see that thing at the track. It's looking faster every week!

Put a few minutes in on making some wastegate plumbing. I never realized how terribly low my wastegate placement could be. I pretty quickly ditched the idea of putting them on the bends. Theyre both going to go like the picture right off the header collector where they angle down, the gate will go straight.

That's awesome, it's crazy how fast the fuel system adds up when your trying to support decent power.

Yeah Im trying to keep as much as I can. Im gonna continue running the 255 intank and twin it with a 450 on a hobbs switch. Should be enough fuel for 1100ish tire which I have no intentions of running right now. I think the turbo will be out of breath around 950-1000 wheel but the gen 3 rods are really only good to 700ish. Plus Im not running an intercooler this season so it will all come in stages.

I got the motor out and on the stand last night. I need to button up the fab work I did to remount the motor and then tear into it to change the cam, open up the piston ring gap, and swap heads.

Similar setup to what I'm running, somehow I managed to squeeze two walbro 450s in a stock s10 blazer tank lol Ballenger motorsports has a really nice hobb switch with metripack connectors if you haven't ordered one yet. Don't remember reading if you plan or running E85 or not? I almost skipped on an intercooler but treadstone had a 50% off sale a couple months ago and I got lucky.

Yeah my cell has a pickup tray in it I built. I can easily fit 2 huge pumps but since Ive got the 255 already Im just gonna add a 450 to it. Down the road Illl probably be able to use the 255 for something else and get another 450. I can use the holley as a hobbs switch but I was thinking about getting a separate one since it seems like a waste to use an output on that on the ECU so Ill check that one out.

Im holding out for a shearer air to water for my hiram so theres really no cheap option. I'll probably throw meth on it for GP especially since its 10:1 compression.

Tore the motor down to a short block. Everything is spic and span, oils perfectly clean. So Im guessing my junk in the pan scare from last year was probably from the hottank. What a dumbass that machinist is...

Also I need like 1 billion fittings. FFS hope my heads sell...

Took all of 3 hours to sell my heads/cam. So I need loads of fuel plumbing shit, water meth, the cheapy holley gauge/command thingy.
