SUBURBICON, Urban Escape Vehicle.

Time for some 63 inch springs get them farther out to protect the tank a bit.

Looks good though

Once I get the bumper built you will see that it will have some tubes along side the tank to give some protection to the tank. And Thanks.

Started working on the rear bumper today now that I have the body work done for now.
Cut and tacked in the hitch, found some 6x6 3/16 square tube and cut the back out to go over the frame and tank.

I will be using 3x6 3/16 rectangular tube for the wings on the side.
I have some D rings and mounts from the cucv rear bumper.

As you can tell I'm using the most advanced CAD design.:D

So.... you shortened it only to add six more inches back on it

I think it sticks out to far, but that is my .02

You could pull the hitch and weld a receiver into the tube. I'm sure you've considered that already.

bumper does make a nice step. simplifies roof rack loading if you go with one.

Since the hitch sticks out 3" past the fuel tank I have the bumper the same distance.

A stock step & tow bumper sticks out no farther than that one...I see nothing wrong with it...

But then,my mail box is made from the same 6x6 square tube,(5/16" wall !)..so maybe I'm biased.....so far no baseball bat or M-80 has phased it!..

I would say yo put the receiver tube in the bumper, but his fuel tank is pretty vulnerable back there, so the hitch might be okay.

Awesome build. I'm looking to convert a 2wd with a 454 into 4wd and was wondering what all was involved. I even have the A bomb to install with 52's up front. What was the purpose of moving the steering box forward? I will be using an 8 lug 10 bolt since I won't be wheeling with it. It will have crossover steering since I already have everything for it. Sorry for the hijack on the build thread, but figured you would know the answers.

In post 5 on page 1 you can see how I moved the steering box forward so that the crossover lined up to the high steer since the 52s move the axle forward.

You can pm me anytime for help with your conversion, it's not that difficult to do.

Got a great deal on C L Saturday and with a little cutting here and there and its in, I still need to drill some holes down the side rail so that I will be able to tie down anything that I put on the slide.
