Swedester´s 87 burb build,halfdoor project in progress.

got them capped last night, and got the axle back under the truck, today I moved the truck back into position outside my garage, took of the old shocks in the front, and going to put those on the back of my volvo wagon.

got me a pair of volvo 240 doorhandles yesterday, that I´m going to use on the front doors,so I can execute my halfdoor plans like I want to.
no actuall work on the truck for 2 days, jumped in on a temporary job, that doesn´t get me home until 19:00 or so.but soon it´s the weekend again and work will continue I hope.

always good to see some progress Swede!

well I try to do as much I can,in and out of jobs doesn´t exactly give me any budged for the build, and when I do have a job,I don´t get home until late:doah:

marked the door for the cut, even my makita cordless anglegrinder makes too much noise to cut at this time at night,22.00ish here.

and the handles going in look like this:

got the hole cut in the door, and spent a long time on getting the locking mecanism out of the door, wanted to do more, but my closest neighbour was having a barbecue, didn´t want to disturb their quiet dinner plans.
was going to a car show tomorrow, but I´m going to skip that to work on the truck, and the ol´lady is working too,so I won´t be disturbed:D

new mount welded to door,****ty welds, there was apparently galvanised steel in the old volvo doors.

leftovers on the left, modified chevy doorlock on the right, made additional parts from a volvo b20 pushrod:thumb:

everything back on the door, and it works.

and with the handle on the door, now I just need to finish up the rest.

yea so far it´s turning out as planned, but it looks a little funny now with one volvo handle in front and the original in the back,I might do a halfdoor conversion in the back later too, like I don´t have enough to do allready?:screwy:

picking up some 2mm steel for the doors today,I don´t have the tools to make a straight 90 degree bend on anything thicker than 1mm or 76cm long,so my favourite steel supplier took care of it.they got a very interesting name,it´s just called "the welding company"anyway, off to work and pick those up on the way,if the weather permits, one bottom half should be done before bedtime.

well, the swedish summer weather is here, been raining and/or hard wind for three straight days, got the top plate welded to the bottom doorhalf, but not done due to the rain starting again, will try to at least lift the tarp and snap a pic of the slow progress today.:angry1:

I forgot how enormous that truck is! Wow! Have you thought about cross-tying the rear shackles? Owenst7 built some HD rear shackles to put under his shackle flip and they bent sideways, even though they weren't as long as yours. I know your style is a bit different since it's on either side of your frame, but I still think you'd be better off to cross tie them.
