Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

I have to agree with Adam... If you afford to store it for awille that would be sweet... or dump the POS and move on.:D

You will get over it! I have owned over 40 different cars and trucks since I was 15,there is lots of them I would still love to own... but whatever.

They can be replaced.

:dunno: It`s up to you.

Dont get so down on it cuz of the rust man. Idk if its that or not but I feel like your looking at it and its becoming so overwhelming that you dont wanna tackle it and get rid of it. Its just steel, steel can always be welded to steel :waytogo: I dont care if you cant do it "the right way" like half the people here will say you have to. If you can do a temp fix up to get some of that rot out until you can get out of school and get some cash flow than thats better than nothing, and then later you can go back and fix it the right way.

Yeah, I'm gonna give it some thought and see what happens. On a side note, I put the 35's back on, and it looks 100x better with them on instead of the 33's.

Nope. Didn't wanna tackle it, especially cause its been cold out and no one wants to help me hahah

Gotcha

I think you should give it some time brosif. Its all your decision in the end though.

Changed your mind already?

I would take it of you hands if you lived closer/or store it for you.
I reminds me of my old 78 jimmy... I like it.

I wasn't really set on anything, I was just giving some though on what I wanted to do. RIght now, I could go either way. Both have the benefits and drawbacks, but if I do do anything, it won't be till May or so.

Ill give you my tailgate shell when I get my new one, I could even fix up the little bit of rust and such on it :thumb:

not trying to push you or anything :D

The tailgate is perfect- its what the tailgate mounts to. It literally ripped outta the tailpan. Rockers, floors, probably B pillars, etc.

Well heck they are just big hinges, just hold the tailgate in with something temporary (ratchet straps work good :D) and then when you get that welder... make up your own brackets that you can weld to something solid.

And wft do you need rockers for at this moment in time???:D

I just hate the way they look you can literally see right through them. Drives me nits because the rest of the outside o the truck is in awesome shape considering

Spray foam, bondo and some rattle cans will fix all your woes :D Just remember that rust does not really have any impact on performance, other than making it faster by making the truck lighter :D I've wheeled some serious rust buckets before, and other than the body break off the rear frame mounts once, I've never had issues in the past

My thoughts -

-Don't let it drag you down. I've seen folks on here put THOUSANDS into rust bucket junkers because of sentimental value rather than buy a solid truck out west and bring it back for less. I don't regret one bit going to Seattle to get The Blazer vs having to fix some POS from Michigan.
Meanwhile you have school and life to attend to. Don't let a rusty old Blazer cause the rest of your life trouble.

-That said...give it some time. The Blazer needs some work, and sadly has some rust issues, and sometimes I get dispirited about it. I've thought about getting rid of it a few times. I usually can just leave it alone for a while, "breath out" the bad feelings, and have a new take on it again. In my case selling it wouldn't allow me to pay off much, get my money back, and definitely wouldn't make me feel better. If I just leave it sitting in the garage it costs me about $35 per month in insurance.
I sure did feel good on Sunday when I was able to load my guns in the back, fire it up, put the GF in it, and head off to go shoot without any trouble. It leaks, rattles, and isn't smooth but ya know, I love it.

You have to figure out which path is best for you.

Well, I did some more digging on the truck today. Good news is that there is a lot less work than I thought there would be, so I'm happy. The only thing it DEFINITELY needs is a tailpan and maybe a section of the rear floor. All of the other stuff for now I can deal with and fix as I go along and get more money. So, I'm on the hunt for a cheap welder and will most likely be fixing it up as I go along.

Look at it this way, anything you drive is going to need maintenance. You may seel it and end up with a bigger POS. I wouldn't sweat the cosmetic stuff. The small blocks are easy to work on. If you buy some little foreign car, can you work on it if needed? Mechanics are expensive

I have a Ranger as a DD, so the truck isn't my daily driver anymore, which helps a lot because I could never have it down for more than a day otherwise I'd be screwed. So for now it's staying, I'm gonna drive the **** out of the Ranger for now, and hopefully this summer I can do what needs to be done to make it better. At least parts for it are relatively cheap.
