Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

Swetty, after the cab swap, do a stepside bed on the back with the front steps cut off. That way you still have a usable bed and it won't look like a redneck jungle gym going down the road. :waytogo:

Photobucket is being ghey, otherwise I would post a pic. But front fenders mounted in the back actually lines up pretty good with the stock wheelbase

I think I remember you posting that pic.

and yes, you need weight in the back, mine was lifting tire all over the place without the bed on it :D

Pretty sure it's in my build thread. Then you can name the truck "Ass backwards" lol

Simple tube bed..and done...of course street queens may call it a "redneck jungle gym"

I'm honestly thinking of doing a rectangular steel frame with a wood deck. We'll see what happens though, my skills and tools are limited.

Did you pay attention to the bed that Baker has on his K30, at RC last weekend? Simple flat bed with a rectangle "hoop" for some roll over protection...looked good.

I read and was told TWF is the only place that mills them to fit correctly.

Changes are a comin.....

I made a deal with a member on here to get a cab, hood and front clip. Its in pretty good shape, minimal rust, and as complete as I want. I'll be pickin it up at the end of the month and then progress is gonna start on the body swap.

While I have the body off, there are a few things that I wanna do to the truck while it is easy to access and get to. List includes:

  • motor mounts
  • FUSH kit
  • frame mounted sliders
  • POR15 and clean up the frame
  • possibly new brake and fuel lines
  • Possibly reseal the motor and T-case
  • Front bumper
  • Mini exo/tube bed/trail protection

I do not want to kill this body. The guys who wheel with me know that I am not afraid of getting into the body... That is going to change. I want to protect it as much as possible if I am going to be putting the time, effort and money into it. I have some ideas kicking around, but I am open to advice and input!
