Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

Epic. That's called leaving it all out in the sand. Nice work.

Ok the adapter broke and you removed the case..... I thought the whole case and drive shafts shot out of the bottom of the truck after a 100' jump while on fire, Dukes of Hazard style kinda thing. (Feel free to use that story if you want) Planning any up dates cause of this? Atlas.....

How did the new Dodge do?

How did the new Dodge do?

I wish it did, that would have been a better story. The only thing holding it in the truck was the shifter linkage though hahah.

The Dodge is awesome. So much less nerve wracking to drive something that I have to worry about every three miles.

So, updates.

Since the Great Dunefest Transfer Case Evacuation, I have been working on the truck A LOT. I got the new adapter in, along with rebuilding the transfer case. This was a job I was nervous about, but after doing it, it wasn't bad at all. Really happy with how it turned out and it works way better than it did before.

Since then, I have been wheeling three times. This thing likes to eat front u joints and I wound up nuking a front shaft. I blew the yoke apart on the axle end after getting bound up in the rocks. Also put a new exhaust on and changed that catalytic converter which was clogged and its running really well right now.

This thing really needs a suspension revamp though. The 4 inch Rough Country springs in the front aren't cutting it anymore. They're super stiff and the bushings are smoked. Rather than reuse them, I think I am going to get some new 4 inch BDS springs for the front and throw those in there to help the ride off road. It's pretty bad right now, one day of wheeling and you feel like you just drove cross country in a dump truck. I also need to do the FUSH mounts as they are bad as well. I also want to do the 57 inch Ford springs in the back to help out as well.

While its apart, I am going to swap in the 1 tons I have from my 78 Blazer. I am also thinking about gearing them at the same time, but we will see.

Was the transfer case brace bolted up when this happened?
No. Back during the first dunefest, we pulled the t case out and after unbolting the brace from the t case, noticed the bolt holding it to the block or transmission was broken off. I never fixed it, and frankly forgot about it.

Pretty much reliability. A bunch of guys in the shop use them on their race trucks and have never had a problem with them and they beat their stuff harder than me.

Things are happening kinda quick over here.

I have BDS springs, new front shackles and bushings on the way. I have a FUSH kit i bought from a member here a few years ago sitting at home, just need to dig it out.

I am ordering a cage next week along with my seats. Hopefully that should be enough to keep me busy until March because the K5 is in storage with the one tons so I can do the swap when it gets a bit warmer. Thinking of doing an SYE then. We'll see what happens
