The 88' Crew Cab (nameless)

well, rain and work pretty much had me and the old man shut down from getting anything besides the sanding done.

fingers crossed from some primer done tonight and tomorrow. '
Chances are it will be rocking the primer look for a few months while I iorn out a few other things and save some cash for a decent paint scheme.

Still dodging the rain, on the hunt for another can of primer, really underestimated the amount needed for such a big truck.

A professional I am
Not. But, it'll do.

In the mean time, I scored this big dog yesterday. Not real sure what I'm
Going to do with it though.

Well, not much to speak of. Started to reassemble the crew can a bit. It's no beauty queen but just having the whole thing in primer looks much better. I still need to track down a grill but honestly i kinda like it without. Also need a few tailgate running lights and some new rubbers for the cab lights. Also need a weather stripping kit for around the windows pretty soon.

As for the front bumper, still up in the air on if I want to just toss the factory one back on or just hold off and get an aftermarket winch type.

Pics.

And for those curious. This is how wide the stance is with dually front axle/dually rear with SRW hubs factory h1's and 37's looks.

Nice truck, I love the square body crew cabs. I'm in the process of painting my blazer body that will become trash if I ever find a crewcab body to replace it with.

That's a hot rig! I love the stance with that wheel and tire combo!!!

Looking good man. I'm still on the edge a out going srw instead of drw, but this thing looks sweet with the srw and wheel/tire combo!

minor update. Got with LMC and managed to round up a grill. some headlight bezels, new rubbers for the roof lights, some front side marker lights and also new parking lights. Really helped bring it together.

Now i just need to quit being lazy and change those seals and slap the front bumper back on. oh, need a few weather stripping pieces too on the windows.

Love that truck! Hate that grille!! LOL! And I'm jelly you have tailgate clearance lights!!

love it!

they should have had that stance from the factory...

minor update.

SO I sold my 2500HD and have since been cruising the V30 for the little bit I have to drive it. I have a company truck and other than the short trips around twon, to the beach or back home I dont really have to road trip anywhere. So the big body serves a purpose...kinda.

I Finally replaced the rear output seal on the 205, for whatever reason the nut holding the yoke on was loose. So I tightened it back properly and will be keeping an eye on it to make sure it isnt boogered.
Replaced the carrier bearing, which was a bitch. and also one u joint. Nothing special jsut routine upkeep i guess.

Added a deep B&M tranny pan and a temp guage to the v30. More fluid and usual highway driving ans such has it running right around if not slightly above 160 once it warms up. Not bad but 3 gears really sucks with a big block and 4.56 gears. Ill normally drive it 55-60 somtimes 65 MPH and its anywhere from 2500 RPMs to 2800. Once I push it to 70 it runs slightly above 3000 RPMS.

I noticed the truck idled a little rough at times and tended to vib some at higher RPMS. Went in yesterday and replaced the Distributor rotor, cap and all new plugs an wires. It definely starts and runs smoother now so thats a big plus for 100 bucks in over the counter parts and a little cussing working around the headers to get the plugs out.

Also, I noticed I still have a small leak at the tranny, discovered the culprit is likely the shift shaft seal so ill be tackling that in the next day or three.
