He asked me last night when I'm going to teach him how to use the clutch. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

I started letting my son learn when he was 10, but I have access to dirt less than a block from the house. I also let him drive around in the gravel pit. It's definitely a skill that very few kids learn anymore. Really cool that your son wants to learn!

Started mine on the lawn mower and let them help me back the truck in the driveway or move them around while they sit on my lap. It’s how my dad got me started.

Our oldest can do the suburban in 1st, 4 low but dumps the clutch in my f150 and tears the grass up to much. I'm going to require all mine to learn a manual before getting there licence.

I use to take girls out to the pasture to teach them. Put it in four low at first really helps. Sometimes it panned out . . . . . .

The oil leak has been getting worse, so I started looking things over. The driver's side valve cover bolts were all fairly loose, so I snugged them down.

Then I noticed fuel intermittently dripping onto the ground from off the front diff. I didn't see any active leaks, but the pump was somewhat moist. Might as well replace it.




After only 5 or 6 trips to 3 different parts stores over 2 days, the new pump is in!


And then it started leaking from the heater hose again. Fun!


At least it looks cooler than my mini minivan.

I snugged up the hose clamps this morning before driving to work. No more leak

Haven't done anything to it lately other than drive to work a couple days a week and take it on errands around town.

But today I took the younger dog Bowser with me to go on a hike to see Abiqua Falls.

We had a good hike and gave a few weary hikers a ride back up the fire road to their cars. The hike to Abiqua Falls is short if you can drive to the trailhead, but that requires 4wd or awd and extra ground clearance. So many people park far away and have a longer hike.
The Jimmy ensured I had the shortest walk possible.


Oh and I've calculated accurately that I'm getting 12.2 mpg on the highway. About 9.5-10 in town.
