I did call Red Head today, they will take the pre poked box as a core, so that's a major plus

I did drive the truck today, first time since before thanksgiving. Started right up
Well it’s a Chevy, of course it did!

I seem to remember someone asking about this subject last year. I don't recall if there were poor reviews of Redhead steering.

Or did they mostly have a happy ending to the stories?

Doin research and asking lots of questions:

@skunked when WTO did your rebuild, did they spec what parts were new?

anyone hear of bluetop steering boxes? Looks like one of the old RH employees got tires of their shit and started his own company

I was going to say had to be a spinoff of red head.
:pimp:

Did you get the front axle caster angle fixed yet?

Maybe that would give you something else to think about for a bit..

Cuz now the discussion seems to be red heads and blue something..

@76zimmer , have you figured out what the heck is happening here?

Ehh, @Capt Ron is doing the research, apparently!

:haha::haha::haha:

Here’s what I know

RH steering gears seems to be getting enough bad press it has made me leery

BH gets great reviews, talked to the owner, seemed decent. They don’t have any boxes I want due to core shortage. So I’d have to send mine in. Being as it works (mostly) I kinda wanted to keep it as a trail spare

WTO has a $300 core charge, so the box would be $700. Or my box $200 plus parts. If the sector or box are junk, I have to send another box or pay the $300 core
ORD sells new PSC for $650 + shipping. No core, so I’d go that route first

I’ll call Benchmark tomorrow.

to use a 77 and newer box, I need to buy another input joint, about $80 for the one I want

Now, if anyone wants to see a real red head, y’all better start posting them in the Pig Pen

I just put a Napa reman on my blazer the other day. It was like $150 after the core charge. Figured it was worth a shot if lasts or not. Haven't even drove it yet.

But you may have forgotten that this truck has crossover and assist ram. Napa doesn't carry those.
