I am curious about that theory. I am having a difficult time seeing how the 203 section could cause 2nd gear to pop, and that bearing on the 205 to push out. I would think that the front output shaft would need to be pushed into the case to shove that roller bearing out.
Not trying to argue your thoughts, but merely understand.

I hope that you don't run into a mystery, as the failure is disappointing enough!!!!

Driveshaft definitely didn't bottom out...

I wasn't implying that you had that wrong. Plus I believe that it would have to knock the snap ring off of the front bearing to drive it into the case, with the shaft. I believe that would be less likely versus pushing the whole case backwards.
Does that make sense? If so, I go back to wondering how the heck that happened if the 203 case screwed up....

I think it went boom when it gathered slack under power

Ok, I will be quiet for now, since I don't know all if it...
Still curious as to what happened!!!!

Ya got it apart yet????
Set the phone down , and get to work!!!!

Have a line on another complete 32 spline 465. We'll get to that later

Pulled the 465. Missing the front 1/8" of the reverse gear and back 1/8" of the 1-2 gear. Slides into 2nd fine with the cover off, but doesn't fully engage 2nd with the shifter on. All I can determine at this point is the gears got together and the shifter no longer hits 2nd
For reference, I was in 2nd and going downhill when it went BANG

203 looks just fine. Detents appear correct, if anything, the sloppy position is the high range stop.

Didn't look in the 205. Pretty sure it will be fine after I hit it with a hammer

Going to go through each piece with it out of the truck and the covers off, make sure each shifter position is 100%

That's all I got...

I tested mine with the PTOs off. It's how I figured out my 205 wasn't right the first time.

I now regret my doubler crossmember blocks access to the 205 cover. It's a great diagnosis setup.

Something else I though of. Mine had sloppy detents in the 205, so I polished the shift shafts (insert pun here) and shimmed the detent balls down quite a bit. It makes an audible"click" when it engages. I then did the same to the 203 later after I felt it too was sloppy.

I'll look into that, thanks

Weren't you have a problem w/ something shifting initially when you installed it..? Too lazy to go back and look.
