Thrush
Flowma$ter
Magnaflow

All 3 built identical in terms of internal layout. Doesn’t matter inlet size or location

The internal plate that is dimple cut determines the flow. All of them inder 3” are the same

Pulled plugs and looked. Upper and lower plane are so close it’s negligible if any difference. Overall slightly too rich but not bad

Much closer analysis of the exhaust means lots of special bendy to do the crossover due to the drive shaft. Not news to anyone

Heater core is leaking

205 rear output is wobbling. Wiped out a new seal Moab and back. Not sure the solution on this but there is something out of tolerance

I am rather surprised by you even considering single exhaust.
And the article Lane linked made me wonder about my fancy glass pack Magnaflow.
:dunno:
But carry on

When i get around to replacing my cheap crappy headers I’m going 3” single for sure and probably the biggest case magnaflow I can find.

Bummer to hear about your 205 eating seals, sucks having to pull those apart regular basis.

There's got to be something out of spec on the case.
I created new thread

Trying to get the pipe away from the t case and the fuel lines.

Simplified model of winch/plate mounted similar to yours.
I agree with these guys, frame rails, or the bolts will be the first to go, but not before you bend that plate...
I'll do another one mounted on a receiver tube to show the different case.

What FEA package are you running?

Or @mrk5 asking about the exhaust system on my truck because it sounds so patriotic
I figure I don't have to worry about the 73 being obnoxiously loud like yours because I have puny compression.
Always possible

I have to cut the old one off to redo it, figured i would look in there. A 3” in/out is only $38.

I would give them to @mrk5 if he needs them
I was looking at the Thrush for the 73. Right now it looks like an 80's exhaust setup with the 2.25" pipes off the manifolds Y-ing together near the transmission to a single driver side exhaust run. That single pipe looks to also be 2.25", maybe 2.5" at best. Plus the muffler has a big ol' patch hose clamped to it. I want to keep the single exhaust and bump it up to 3" and I'm thinking of running a single 3" Thrush welded muffler exit before the rear tire. I would like it to have a little more attitude.

Careful what you wish for. I did that with Flowmaster and that muffler is HUGE. I have to use a jack to put in place and it has to be slightly rotated to clear the driveshaft.

I have the thrush welded muffers on my 76. Pretty quiet really. I think it's kinda weak. But I get alot of comments about it sounding "good" or "mean" or "tough" or my favorite was "sounds like an old truck should"

Ha lots of folks talking about joining the single exhaust club! I figured I'd always be alone with that.
