Too low compression?
Jury is still out on my 2017 GMC. Seems to run a little better, but that could just as easily be bullshit too. Trip computer says 15.7 mpg over the last 45 miles.

The one thing the higher octane fuels do have, is more cleaners in them.. I run them in the car occasionally anyhow just to make sure the engine/injectors ect dont get a ton of buildup.
And I also think it's probably underlining the lack of a thermostat or proper thermostat.
I don't see any significant change in my 2018. GM "recommends" premium, but unless I am towing in hot weather it runs great on 87. 16-18 in town and 21-23 on the highway. I have a best 50 mile average of 27 using regular.
Mine likes more octane, it’s knock limited and really sucks the low end torque out of it when I go back to gasoline.. so 104 e85 is what she gets

Yeah I haven't moved into that era yet either. Find an 8 yr old and I bet they can show you how.
Sound's like you need to play with advanced cold start settings for specific temp ranges .
Probably not, wifes car didn't hit on the first go either
It obviously needs more cubic inches to assist with cold start up.
