Ball and socket, or V-band are both superior...but there is another collector gasket out there that can help get you through. Remflex makes exhaust gaskets from compressed graphite. They are designed for a 50% crush during install allowing them to "absorb" up to 1/16" worth of surface imperfections/misalignments and the best part is no re-torque.

Find a steel donut gasket and put it in, cheaper / easier that a collector change.

The collectors on the headers in my old truck were worn out / rusted / bent and I couldn't get gaskets to seal, the donuts fixed my issue.

Let me check tomorrow. I think I saved the part number.

Right now I'm just pissed this never occurred to me to try...

Damit Johnny I hope you're right. I think the pipe is moving causing it to break the seal

I have replaced the collector all together. Cut the collector off and used a reducer welded to the exhaust side and slid over the header. Then used one of the two bolt band clamp like semis use to seal it up on the header. No leaks and better clearance.

Are those what you use with your Sanderson headers? (I hope I'm remembering correctly that you have those headers on your 454)

I do have Sanderson’s but so far I just have their gaskets with no issues. Keep in mind though, I probably have WAY less run time than most. I probably only have 200 miles on the motor.

I have more than that on this injection system
:haha:
