The Great Smaug

Stanadyne's brand new 6.5 injectors became cheaper than rebuilds some time back, and I've run those since. College-budget David ran a mix and match rebuild set from Accurate Diesel, and they worked well enough for 60K. You might have some luck there.

In that department I am stuck. All of the common injectors are fine-thread, it's only the '82 engines that got coarse-thread injectors. So most of the options out there won't fit my engine.

I ordered 8 of these AC Delco units. They're suspiciously cheap @ $27 and $29 apiece (neither vendor had a full set), so I'll see what arrives. Maybe nobody wants the odd-ball ones? Or maybe I'll get what I paid for? :dunno:

I found later injectors running $50-$80 apiece.

Did you replace your injector lines when you switched to short injectors? Or did you bend the old lines to fit?

And what's special about the injector socket? I recall using a normal deep-well 30MM socket last time. :dunno:

You can bend old style lines to fit, but new lines are cheap and make for a clean install. They do require more labor...intake removal, etc. Always replace your return lines during and injector change.

The special socket is handy, and has provision for a 1/2" drive or 3/4" tooling. It's also cool to have one.

10-4. I figured that would be your answer. :wink1: I hafta stick with long injectors anyways.

Pulled off the A/C compressor tonight. It was hiding more oil leaks than I had realized. And started spraying down my future bolt victims. And spent more monies.

Baby steps.

You have spent lots of monies all of a sudden. I'm impressed!!

Already got my answer from the first vendor. Same as ordering tires a few weeks ago.

New message from: myauto (78,908)
Thank you for your order. I am truly very sorry, but unfortunately my supplier is currently out of stock in this item. I was not informed that your order had been cancelled until I placed a request for status just now. I feel terrible that this has happened. I made sure to remove my listing immediately from my store.

I do not know when this item will be back in stock, therefore, I think the best course of action would be to refund your payment. I took the liberty of refunding your item and canceling the order.

I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Blake Campbell

The listing is still up. Aside from wasting my time, is there a deeper scam happening here? :dunno:

Yes there is a scam, that person contradicts themselves in that message. They say they weren't aware that your order was cancelled, then they say they went ahead and cancelled it. Flag that user as a scammer and find another seller.

I'm wondering what he stands to gain by taking fake orders and then refunding the money a few hours later. Seems like a lot of work for no apparent gain. :dunno:

I am a firm believer, that no matter the size or purpose of the build, they are never done. Even just a resto-mod. There's always something needing fixed or improved.

None of the reputable vendors listed above sell new 1982 injectors. I'm stuck with remans or hoping one of these random eBay vendors comes through.

There is a set of 8 rebuilt out of Florida on there and the seller has 100% shopdiesel.sp is the seller.

No but having rebuilt injectors myself in the past their description of the process sounds good and being in Florida I could always drive down a fix any problems face to face. The injection company I use The most is Mylex International 601-574-4211 not sure If they have yours or not.
