The Green Machine - parked

I'm going to go with the 4.56 gears in the rear axle, because this will become a heavier truck in the future and a family hauler that will pull an off-road trailer.

Got another box today:

What tires are you going to be running? What size? 34's pretty uncommon.

The new BFG all terrain comes in a 34x10.50/17, I don't want to push a big fat tire down the road, a lot of problems arise from larger tires and I want to avoid all that as much as I can. If I feel they're a little small (unlikely, I'm not into this idea of fitting the absolute largest toe possible) I'll find a 35" equivalent tire.

Gotcha. I'm usually a skinny tire guy myself.

255/80R17?

Huh. Only ever seen Swampers in that size. Nice to see them diversifying.

What's up with the tread depth in the new KO2's only being 15/32's? Everyone else's tread got deeper but BFG went the opposite.

I have idea about the tread depth. Maybe they have better compound that wear better?

The date of the build is set. I didn't get the schedule I wanted at work so I have to take time off to get two days off together, so the build date is the 15 and 16 th of May. In that time I hope to get the front axle placed and on its wheels and the rear axle put in. I'm going to modify my rear drive shaft to work with the 14 bolt for now until I can get the slip yoke eliminator kit for my np241.

I'm starting to get a little nervous, this is my only ride I'm putting throb major surgery. If I mess up I'm screwed.

You tearing both axles off simultaneously? :dunno:

I'm going to concentrate on the front first and get it done, then the rear. At least the shackle flip. The rear is a simpler job abs I want to do the tough stuff while I have the help.

My .02 since you haven't asked, it is snowing here rather bad and snows through Memorial day most years.

But who knows this year started a bit early I think.

Mmm, parts :)

Tentatively the build will begin on Tuesday, with the rear axle going in, pending if the shock tabs I forgot to order can show up in time...
