Used to be into the RC cars and trucks years ago. Now I build scale aircraft with the emphasis on warbirds and float planes. Both the Kingfisher float plane and the Skyraider warbird are all balsa covered with fiberglass cloth & resin. The finishes are all epoxy paint with no decals. All insignias and lettering is painted. All paint is airbrushed.

They are money pits. My recomendation if you get one is just leave it 100% stock. Once you start upgrading it never ends.

Bigger motor require bigger stronger brake disc, stronger servo to activate brake, stonger dog bone because you will snap the stock ones, longer chassis because now it will always want to wheelie and flip over on its lid, stonger clutch, better stearing servo because at faster speeds its harder to turn, better steering servo saver for the same reason, new wheels because you will constantly strip out the plastic wheels .....................................the list goes on and on. You will be forever chasing out the weak links.

Just leave it stock and have fun with it. I quickly put over $2k into my Savage when I bought it. I have more into that stupid truck then what I paid for my blazer initially.

While I can agree to some point... But what good is stock? We dont keep our real trucks stock.... Hah

my tmaxx, started as a basket case. with a bad .18 motor. bought a picco.26 and has a mgt pipe ran it on the original tmaxx chassis for a while then upgraded everything to 3.3 except the diffs. has a spool in the rear, mgt pipe, fwd only 2 speed tranny. big bore aluminum shocks,aluminum integy front and rear arms, got paddles on 1'' offset wheels and proline masher on 1/2'' offset wheels. metal cv's. its pretty quick. just put new bearings in the motor and now just trying to tune it but waitin on starter motor.

stock front tires and the rear paddles are 3.2''. the wheels i got from ebay. but i wouldnt recommend them for anything other then sand. they are real weak and will rip off the hub if you land hard off a big jump the wrong way.

Your supposed to glue the tire to the rim and should have foam in there to prevent that from happening. .26 picco motor is a great motor expect to strip out those plastic wheels soon.

i do got foam on there. just when i would take it to tracks or even regular bash sessions. the would eventually rip off the axle and the nut would still be tight. or like you said above they would round them out. i got some proline velocity wheels with proline mashers for bashing. they been holding up for the last couple years with the picco. but there starting to round out a little. so i putem on my girlfriends emaxx 14.4. and im goin to use her stock tires with some new rpm revolver wheels.

Well I did some wheelin and dealin and now I have a 2009 revo all stock its and I have driven it maybe 30 min first the tire basicly blew up and a big chunk of it went flying when I was doing donuts and last night the 2 main plastic drive gears stripped out is it like this everytime you drive one of these?

In my experience with nitro rigs, yes ....that's why I'm playing with crawlers now

*On my Brushless/Geared up/LiPo/Rustler.

Yes get used to it. I spent a minimum $20 each time I played with mine.
My best advice is just buy a stock one and leave it stock. You will get hours of more fun out of it.
Modifying is great and the power increase is sweet. But you spend more time and money fixing things then you do playing with it.

Problem is weaknesses are endless and you just create othe weaknesses by upgrading parts.

thanks man! i built every one of em. the '72 chevy bodies have always been a favorite of mine.

here are some more pics of my current build. i built the frame rails and everything brazed onto them. its all 3/16" solid rod on this one. the scout posted above was 3/16" brake tubing.
