"The Raped Grape" turning wilted raisin... ***crash update, pics start post 600***

Well on the highway at 65 my rpm's are right at 2000 in OD, but even the slightest hill or gust of wind the right way, it downshifts... In the mud it does decent I just have to be sure to not give it hell very much or else I'd be looking at other problems. But in all honesty I could use a little peppier motor. I have to run it in 4LO to really be able to clean out the tires like they need. I would think you would be in the green with 5.38's, especially running a 40" tire.

I know that Steven(82K10SBC)The Mistress, has / or had 4.56's with his 44's but he also had a lot more ponies to spin them. I don't know how well off he was with that setup but I would think he was good. I've done surprisingly well with my setup the few times I've taken it out and my adventures are all ponds. A motor is definitely next on my list of upgrades though. Going back and forth between all out with a big block or build a stroker motor...

Yah I was just kind if curious. I really have no clue what to expect. I guess I won't know till it's all in and then ill have to adjust from there. Have to get my x over steering in, the d60 in, and then my tranny built and in.

I run 5.13s with a sorta built 454 on 40s. But I used to run it with a tired old 350. It would pull it around pretty good in high or low, but I had a th400 so no OD problems for me. Obviously Low would clean the tires out better on mine when it had the 350, but now with the 454, I can run around in High no problem and roast the tires. If I was you, I would get it moving, and then see what it does. Its probably going to be ok, and while a 500hp SB is nice, its not required and it is alot more work and money than a cheap 300hp one.

Yah I don't think I will have problems. The 350 I have seems pretty solid. It's not built or anything. But it for sure isn't tired. With the 5.38's I'm hoping it spins em good because a motor build is probally about 2 years out based on the plans for this truck. Along with the many other $$$$$ hobbies I have :haha:

ooooff, and I remember .36 gas when I started driving.
And Sunoco 260!

I just posted a video in the last page of my build thread to you give you an idea of power I have at the moment with 350/700/4.56's/44's

Yah that doesn't look like it's too terrible at all for a 350. And I mainly play in sand anyways not mud so now I just can't wait to get it done:thumb:

Yeah it's ok, but you always gotta go bigger and better! Haha, I think you are gonna be fine with your setup! Now get to it!!!

I'm working on it hahaha. Working on my d60, x over and hydro assist right now:thumb: hopefully going in, in a few weeks.... Hopefully.

Well it's been months since I have done anything with this truck. This summer has been pretty hectic, and has kept me from spending money and time on this build. From my accident that totaled my DD, and blowing up my dirt bike several times and rebuilding, then buying a new bike and breaking that immediatley luck hasn't been on my side :haha:

..... But things have kinda settled down and I've decided to get back to building this truck! First goal for this weekend is to get the 60 in upfront with crossover.

So this is what the trucks been doing for months....sitting....:doah:

I ordered my crossover from a fare key new company fourwheelsupply.net. Decent looking kit and it cost me $230. Plus they shipped it for free!:thumb:

Ordered spindle bearing kit, kingpins, and kingpin cups from east coast gear supply

Put a coat of paint on axle shafts and hubs tonight. Had to drill out and re-tap two of the lock out holes last night due to broken off bolts.

Last couple nights I have just been cleaning and painting things to get it all ready so hopefully Friday (I have Fridays off work) I can spend the day getting everything installed. Only things I need left to buy are calipers rotors brakes and wheel studs

Tonight I thought I'd get the new spindle bearings installed. Only ended up getting the old ones out. What a pita!:doah: needles were completely rusted together.

After beating on the things from the back for 20 minutes I decided to try something new. Took a little rectangular piece of metal and put in the bearing and welded it to it.

Then just took a piece of bar stock and a BFH and 5 hits later it was out. Worked like a charm :thumb: old bearing next to the new one.
