The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Michelin and bfg are some heavy hitters in tread delamination. As a retailer I see them the most. Nitto and toyo the least. For what it's worth, your inspection of your tires is the best thing you can do for you and your vehicles passengers. Nitto and toyo are exceptional tires with great success.

If you're betting your life's safety on "most of the time," I don't think I want to ride in your vehicle. "Mostly" isn't good enough, and even if you do get 5 whole seconds' of warning time, you often can't have the vehicle stopped in that amount of time. :doah: :doah:

In a perfect world I'd have 4 brand new tires on my truck (maybe a new truck too)..but not being wealthy,I have to run what I can get for tires that are free or cheap, and I've had very few blowouts,I am probably lucky, but even new tires can be punctured by potholes or things like mufflers, recaps, and other trash in the roadway that you may not be able to avoid hitting,or see in time..

I don't drive very far with my truck on highways,I stick to back roads and speeds below 50 mph for the most part..I have run tires I find at salvage yards that were still in very good shape and not that old ,or ones I find at yard sales,etc..often I have better luck with the ones that look "eh"--seems every time I get a new tire or a real nice used one, that is the one that will get slashed by something first...its never the bald or dry rotted ones..:(

I prefer "E" rated 8 or 10 ply tires, those hold up a lot better and I've had many that were very weather cracked, never had one separate or fly apart so far..the few blowouts I've had, only one failed without much warning, the rest failed due to me running over something or hitting a deep pothole..

get tires yet?
Not yet. Waiting to hear back from discount tire to see if they'll match treaddepot.com's price. I'll probably have a new set in a week or so. I'm leaving Wednesday for 4 days up in southern Utah wheeling at the trail hero event. So it'll wait til I get back

We made a last minute trip to cedar mountain today to see some of the fall colors and we nailed it this year. The aspen were pretty much peaked, it made for a great day. The truck ran flawlessly all day, fought another damn headwind on the way home but she didn't mind.

Beautiful pics...

I need to witness this before I leave this blue marble...

Well I leave for Trail hero tomorrow morning and as of about an hour ago I got the winch all done. It's dark so I didn't get any pictures. I'll grab a couple tomorrow when I'm loading my shit into the truck.

Cool!
