The restoration/modification of Daisy.

well i called around about the radiator and fuel tank yesterday, might be cheaper just to buy a new tank, shipping might kill it though.

and all this BB11 stuff has me pissed off, so thats my goal, i wanna take my sub to BB12. better make a list of **** i need.

subscribed! I bet it feels good to bring back an old project! BB12 OR BUST!!!

What about a local parts store for the tank, sender and radiator? Most radiators are china now, but the tanks and senders are usually canada. Prob get the same stuff LMC has at the parts store for less. And no shipping!

It sure as hell does! How many guys can say they still own the vehicle they learned to drive in?

Actually a local radiator shop said they'd do the tank for $90 and the radiator for $60. I'll be able to get both done for the cost of a fuel tank from LMC. So sometime this month I'll get that taken care of.

FREEBIES!!!

i'm assuming with the right parts and a little work, i can make this work for my suburban. i robbed a 2pc driveline out of a retired bus at work, its 7' long and uses (i think) 1410 joints. i'll need to have each piece shortened a lot, get an SYE for my NP241 and see if anyone makes a flange to bolt this thing to a 14bff. i think keeping the rear driveline up out of the way will be really nice.

so are these actually 1410s?

i also grabbed a trans cooler and power steering cooler for a 6.0l powerstroke. :woot:

Well last night I made some progress, without even touching the sub. Sticking it my driveway so my wife sees it every day is working. She asked me "when are you gonna paint it because it looks like ****." I replied "when you let me spend the money on tools/equipment to paint it." and she told me to get started on it next week. Haha I knew that would happen eventually!

That's gotta be some sort of truck induce reverse psychology:haha::haha::waytogo::waytogo::bow:

Engine? Non existent right now. I'm saving $$ to get something. Not sure if I wanna do another TBI engine or a 5.3l swap.

Did you consider a TBI454?
If you want one I have one coming out in favor of a diesel, you can drive it before you buy it too.
And I will check to see what width my last 16.5 stock wheel is, I am pretty sure it's not 9.75"

I definitely have, not sure what it would take to get it smogged but here in NV that shouldn't be too hard. I'll pm you.

Dammit. Throughout the night at work I was looking at howdiy's suburban build thread and the built suburban photo thread on pirate. Now I'm gonna fall asleep here in a few min and dream of chopping the roof off my sub.

Hhhmmmm.....

Dont do it!!!

x elventy bazillion!!

Keep the roof on! You already said it's not a hard core offroad rig, just a trail/exploration rig. And just think how nice A/C is when you're cruisin' on a hot Vegas day. And you have the added benefit of having a dry, secure sleeping area when you do go camping.

I'm just wondering how much "expedition/exploring" I'll be able to do at 8mpg. And if I get a diesel pickup sometime soon I wouldn't be using the sub for camping/exploring anyway. I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Here's a modified suburban that may give you some ideas or maybe not:dunno:

NOT MINE!

wow, thats, interesting.

i'm really not sure. on one hand i want to swap in a 4l80e for OD and see how she does as a expo/camp rig. then on the other hand, i should have myself a newer diesel crew cab around the first of the year that would be great for the exploration type of stuff and the sub could become a trail rig...

hell i dont know. maybe i'll leave her alone until that shiny new diesel is sitting in the driveway next to her.
