Might I ask what was the reasoning behind the choice of the 5.3? Was this a rebuild or just a cleaned up pull?

Yes the video was made for me, he does that for all his customers. I chose this 5.3 because it was available, affordable, and only has 78k on it. I don't mind DBW throttle and DBC engines are getting hard to find as they're older. I'm putting a 4l80e with a TCI controller behind it.

The DBW on these motors is just as smooth and instant as a cable. And they have proven to be at least as reliable as a cable. BD even has a video of him submerging pedal and TAC module in a fish tank and leaving it there while running the motor and working the throttle with no problems. With so many thousands of them out there, i would take which ever one was available.

Thats the vid! Like i said, one might be better than the other for one reason or another, but i would buy whatever was available. If i bought a complete setup that was DBW, i would never waste my time converting it to DBC. Some of the most hard core racers out there are running DBW and have been for a long time with no problems.
the water tank video does kinda shut up a lot of people who like to complain about DBW engines. the check for the balance was mailed out today, he'll have it tomorrow, the engine will ship out tuesday, i might have it by the weekend. time to make some motor mount plates.

Yeah I suppose, Just every DBW that I drove GM, Toyota and Jeep had a slight lag. Odd are I am going to end up with a DBW motor myself so I mind as well accept it.

the ECM with the engine can only control a 4L60E, GM never put 5.3s in front of 4L80Es. the 4L80E is a 3/4-1 ton trans, the 5.3 was used primarily in 1/2 ton trucks. Bryan (BD turnkey) explained it to me that the harness and ECM can be converted to run my trans but he doesn't offer that service. i'd have to send the harness and ECM to someone else to have it done.
i looked into it and decided that a TCI controller would be a better option. its only about $100 more when all is said and done and this way, i get to fine tune the trans to my liking. lock up, shift points, and shift firmness are all adjustable on the fly with the TCI unit.

Good enough. I had read recently some interesting stuff (that I would have to go back and re read) about tye 4l60e program running 4l80e's just fine. But either way. Your way will certainly work just fine.

I got the rear brakes bled today. Had to replace that caliper. $14 caliper with a $16 core charge haha! the brake system is basically done. I need to reconnect the rear prop valve to make it functional again, it's there, might as well use it.
I don't care how much you spend on extraction tools, they all suck. I've got three more sets of various type extractors at work, never been impressed with many of them. Seems like conditions need to be perfect for them to work.

Best way is to drill the bleeder out.
You already have a pilot hole.
get it close and then clean the threads.
Done it already.
