The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Damn! Thick F&R gears means I don't need a new carrier. Good price too!

Scott I am pretty sure that is a normal 60 set. It specifies 14b thick but it usually will say thick oe series 3 carrier on the 60 set.

East coast gear supply has em but the cost is similar to a new carrier. Doesn't matter to me which way you go. Just make sure to call unless it says thick or series 3 compatible right after the Dana 60 description.

The restoration/modification of Daisy…

Yeah "they" do. It's one guy, taking on too many projects and still ****ing with his personal vehicles while he's at it. He's a hack, some of the **** AZblazer found wrong with his rig after getting it back from him is a joke. If anyone is considering dropping the cash on an LS swap, stay away from KSD in Las Vegas.

I emailed them, they got back to me this morning, this set will work for me. It's looking like mid July BlazinZuk and I will be sweating our asses off under my suburban changing gears.

Pull them out. You will be glad you did IMO. It really really really sucks doing them in a vehicle unless you are on a lift.

I haven't done front gears yet, but I was about to say that the nice part about having a FF rear axle is that the swap can be done by just pulling the axle shafts (no wheel removal or support blocks required).

Then if you want to replace the outer bearings you can pull one wheel at a time. I would think that is lots easier than pulling the axle out. :dunno:

But I have only done 3 rear axle swap/rebuild jobs. I'm nowhere near as practiced as Adam is now. :haha:

You just redid your suspension, no? It'd be a shame to rip it all apart again.

I have no intention of removing the axles from the truck. I don't have room to drag them around or any way to put them up on the table in my garage.

When the time comes for me to re-gear, I am leaving the axles in. While I did bring home my Dana 60 and my 14bff in the back of my jimmy and I loaded and unloaded them myself, it is doable but not a pleasant experience. I am done moving that Shiite around by myself.

When you do yours, if I can swing it, I would love to come help or just watch to learn a bit.

No real need to pull em out. Yah it's easier but at least this time the concrete won't be freezing cold lol.

I just jack a truck up high enough there's plenty of room and being 14 ff in the rear makes it much easier front is nice and accessible. Rear is way further under the rig

i'll put up a shade structure and try to keep the driveway shaded, we'll be ok. :woot:

The annoying part isnt that its hard to get to, its when you do one like my rear and end up re shimming and pulling it apart 12 times.

But I have done a rear on the ground, i didnt like it but we got it done.

Cant wait till you get it done. It will be all smiles. With my new gears the thing has so much more power to the ground :eek1:. The whole body just torques when you mat the skinny (im sure the cage tied to the frame is part of that.)

Its awesome :D

we'll just power through it and get it done.

i am looking forward to that part. it already feels lie a hot rod to me and it can't even burn the rear tires on dry pavement. after a set of 4.88s it's gonna be so punchy on the bottom end. it's going to work out really well with the 5.3's power band.

i bet you're digging your freshened up engine huh?

Yah way better. You will not be disappointed in that gear choice. And yes those engines like to really come in around 4k. It amazes me how bretts 6.0 in the buggy throws you back right when it hits 4k and just PULLS.

Geez Adam 12 times. What a noob lol

That's what I get for buying used gears :doah:
It was super touchy.
