The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Are you concerned the upright may hit the back door? Looks close but that may be the picture. I like the design, should work well with the barn doors.

congrats on GMOTM :waytogo:

Nice job on the tire carrier/bumper!! Do you have any pics with them swung open? What was the reason for making two different swingouts? Hoping to build one in the near future and was just curious on your design:D

It's close right now, when the latch is done it should ride an inch or two from it.

No I don't. I need to get the latch done today after work and I'll take more photos. Shorter swing outs don't need as much room to swing open, it splits the load between two spindles instead of putting it all on one and this way I can open one side and open one door to get in/out of the back.

The restoration/modification of Daisy… [Blazer Bash is getting closer]

Here's tonight's progress.
I made some adjustments to the arms to make them close tighter against the landing pad. I tied them down and heated the arms up, once cooled they lined up great and you can't even tell they've been adjusted.

I also welded the latch on.

Here are some more pics just because.

I might lean the tire in and tuck it in tighter to the body, we'll see.

The passenger side door clears everything nicely.

These ones show the gusseting pretty well, I'm not pulling the bumper to get more pics of the inside.

Looks good.
Will there be an anti-thievery device on it? I've heard stories about folks getting their trail gear stolen on the way to the big event.

Eventually. Not really sure how to go about doing it.

Some of this welds on the 90 and 45 on the tire carrier look kinda boogery. Is it just the pic?
Have you considered some plate on the sides? Just a thought, other than that it looks tits dude!

A couple of them are, ran out of wire and had to finish with the stick welder. I've cleaned them up, they're painted over now.

I know you have sweeter things going on, but those dust caps make that look so clean and very professional.

The restoration/modification of Daisy… [Blazer Bash is getting closer]

My buddy Henri came by today and we got some **** done! The rear lights are wired up with a weatherpack connector at the bumper, installed & wired a bunch of 12v plugs and USB ports in the cab and installed a set of 7" LED spot lights on the front bumper.
Light switches on the overhead console.

And a few additional 12v plugs on the center console.

All the lights work!

The front lights need to be adjusted a little.

The restoration/modification of Daisy… [BB15 prep! Almost done!]

I got the exhaust welded up today. I ended up having to remove the drivers side rear shock but the whole exhaust system slid out the back in one piece. Even with the side branch on there it installs and removes easily. I had the job done in just over and hour.

I took a scrap piece of tube and split it open at the seam, hammered it flat and cut it to cap off the end of the side branch.

With the system removed, I cut a hole in the pipe where I had marked it earlier. Tacked the side branch in one spot to adjust then welded it up when I got it right. My little MIG machine did alright tonight, it has days where it doesn't cooperate at all. Once that was done I stuck it all back in the truck and bolted the shock back on. I'll test drive it tomorrow and post the results.

It's above the centerline of the 3" pipe for two reasons. Clearance, none of the exhaust hangs below the frame. And condensation, with it above the tube it's less likely to collect moisture.
