The restoration/modification of Daisy.

So I actually did something to the suburban yesterday...
Before.
After.

I've had the new Magnaflow in a box on the table for a couple weeks now so I grabbed a couple pieces of 3" pipe from O'Reilly and my father-in-law and I dug into it. I was able to move the muffler back a foot or so and still keep it tucked up into the frame. You can barely see it under there. We relocated one hanger, cut the whole system in half and added another set of flanges behind the muffler. Now I can drop half the exhaust system out at a time if needed. Before, it was all one piece, about 12' long.
The volume level outside the truck didn't change as much as I expected it to but inside the cab is much more comfortable. Upon completion we took it for a little test drive, got up to 80mph on the highway and I'm pleased to report that I can comfortably drive 70mph again. It's got a deep tone, the raspiness of the smaller Borla muffler is gone and there's no drone on the highway. I'm happy!

I think MagnaFlow sound great. Make my wore out TBI350 sound good. I get a lot people asking what the motor is and commenting they thought it was something bigger.

I remember your truck sounding nice as you left me in the dust! I remember the burning oil smell too... Lol!

Magna flow here also, if it wasn't for my fan clutch you wouldn't hear the truck.

I went magna flow for the same reason

That's a great sound. Glad the droning went away.

:rotfl: Nicole wants to do the engine cooking lunch thing but I told her that's a bad idea currently because it would taste like motor oil!

I've wanted to try that for some time now. I've even seen stainless steel boxes that clamp to your exhaust to warm food in. I guess it's common among snowmobile riders.

I was given that book some years ago. Basically anything that can be wrapped in foil and laid somewhere hot is within bounds. Containerized soups seem like an especially risky idea.

We wrapped turkey and cheese sandwiches in many many layers of foil, and they were nicely melted and hot using the intake as our heat source.

I think Your Mileage Might literally Vary.

I did it when I was running a harvester 14 hours a day. Just threw something wrappen in foil on the exhaust. We got pretty tricky towards the end of that season. One guy actually cooked burgers. I kind of stuck to tin foil dinners

I am now driving 65 mph because my drone has finally drove me fuggin nutz. Series 50 flow master with 3" in and out.
Got the new Tejas Steelworks PCM mount in place and its a lot better than what i went with.
Next up is a rear main and while the trans is out i am putting in a new Torque converter by Phx Trans out of weatherford tx. Good people...quality work. Also have a new 4l80e valve body and a HD2 shift kit sitting on the tool box. Gotta get brave and just do it. Lol.
I forgot...i also found a deal on ebay for new Delphi injectors so i put a set of those in as well. Drives better believe it or not but i still have that wierd in gear here and there no code flutter.

AZ, I wonder of that could be your air filter mounted where it is. I have heard that can do funny things to the maf sensor.

I've heard the same thing. That and the filter right there on the throttle body is sucking hot air directly off the radiator.

Damn Muddy, you come a long way with this rig. I just checked the first page in this thread, I remember you dragging it out of it's resting place. It doesn't matter if you get there as long as you get there. Nice work!

Thanks man! Yeah she's come a long way, that's for sure. All I can think of is how much more I have to do, haha!
