The Shop Truck

1971 Chevy C20 with a custom flat bed.
I believe so, it's been in the truck for a while already. I'm considering throwing my reverse manual valve body in, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. That and a 3000 rpm stall converter would probably shave a half second off my time.

We were talking about that this weekend. We've got a lot to get ready for next week so we'll probably make a decision on that when we get back.

We got the heims last night so I wanted to make sure they would work. The installed width of the heims was 1 7/8" vs 1 3/4" for the Speedway rod ends. I used my HF mini lathe to turn 4 of them down 1/16" and pulled one link arm. The Speedway rod ends were blown out way worse than I thought. I'm not sure what they designed these for, but they certainly don't hold up to suspension duties.

The heims fit perfectly, I was worried I'd have to shorten the link bars but they all worked just fine.

yeah those speed way might hold up on swing set ...............................

I have that same socket tray

I forgot to include a picture of the bottom of the hood. The two factory braces were in the way of the louvers, so I welded a 1x1 tube onto both and cut out the factory brace. This hood was pretty trashed to begin with (I think someone sat on it) so I don't feel bad about cutting it up. You can see that I had to add a .75x.75" tube down the center to keep it from oil canning when I first bought it.

We got the reservoir and the cooler mounted yesterday, along with the return line from the hydroboost. So many AN fittings.

You doing 2 return line to reservoir ?
Yes, that's how it works with a hydroboost setup. I guess you could use a T, but this is how they are from the factory. High pressure from the pump goes to the hydroboost first, then daisy chains to the steering box. Return line from the brake booster goes to the reservoir, return line from the steering box goes through the cooler and back to the reservoir. I'm actually using the stock 2004 Silverado line from the pump to the hydroboost. Everything else is converted to -6AN fittings and custom lines we made.
We finished up the hydraulic lines and got the pump swapped out with one that has a PSC -10AN inlet can on it from the old Blazer.

I didn't have to mess with the high pressure lines aside from where it connects to the back of the pump. We still need to bleed it and put the belt back on, but hopefully we're done with that.

The replacement shock should be here today, I also ordered rebuild kits from QA1 so I can fix it and have a spare. We only have a few things left to be ready. The plan is to drive it to Payson for lunch on Sunday, we've never driven it that far and I don't want the first trip to be Havasu.

I had to share this photo in it's own post. There was a photographer out Friday night at the Duct Tape Drags and I bought one of the pictures. Possibly the best picture ever of the shop truck.

The truck is mostly ready, I was hoping to put together a spare tire/wheel today but Amazon lost the wheel. Hopefully it shows up tomorrow.
Today we finished swapping the Speedway Rod Ends with Heims, did an oil change, and cut the muffler out of the exhaust. I can't go on PowerTour with a quiet truck. Now it's just got the Magnaflow I used to have in the Blazer.

The N2O pressure switch for the bottle heater is stuck closed, when I went to do the first run in Tucson it wouldn't purge, I looked at the bottle and the needle was pointing pretty much straight down, I'd have to guess it was close to 2000psi. It's supposed to be in the over 100 in Chandler on Friday anyways, so the bottle heater shouldn't be necessary. I can always wire it up so I can heat the bottle while we're watching it.

The bottles are rated for 1800psi nominal, even though they're usually at 1000psi. I think they hydro them at 3000psi. They have a burst disk to prevent them from exploding.

Be a nice trip for you. Be sure to have a dip in the lake.
I am traveling on Wednesday too.
Have to put some new coach batteries in the MH before we go dry camping in the high desert for the Manx event.

We're definitely bringing our suits. It's supposed to be hotter there than here in Phoenix next week.
