THE STUBBY project / R.I.P . . . . . . . . . . .

full truck weight on it minus few hundred for bed idea and toolbox with straps and stuff.

and i have a super idea for the bed pics this weekend when i pick up the parts and mock it up to see if it will realy work and how it will look in the end.

its gettin there.

i am going to the fair sat night for tractor pulls. sunday i plan on doing a bit of rear axle pinion pointing to measure for drive shafts. then who knows from there.

next real thing i need to do is custom tcase crossmember and 2 seat frames. then wire up the motor and bolt on the headers . then add a fuel tanks and see were we get from there.

sweet, the tractor pulls at the county fair got rained out here, kinda glad I decided not to enter this year. Im really lookin forward to see this thing on the trails.

well i did just a little work today.

custom made seat frames to hold buckets from a 95 g2500 conversion van.

1x1 1/8 wall square tube. cut and welded to make frame and welded to factory bench brackets. makes the whole thing slide as 1 or each seat seperate with its own slide. then a 3/8 nut for the slider cable to link 1 side to the other.

needed 1" spacer tube for the fronts to kick it up and make the seat sit nice for my needs. and yes i need to finish a few welds. and get tabs to mount the seats to and weld to the frames. i have a few extra cross bars to add when i figure out the seat position needs. then it will be nice and safe / stiff.

same exact thing for the back but crewcab back seat dosnt slide to only the buckets will slide.

then i cut the floor shifter hole open a bit to fit the ord tripple stick shifters up threw. thay are all in the middle now and i need to trim just a bit more yet. then i am going to cut and patch the floor hole shut and weld in the floor plate thay give you in the kit to make it look basicly factory.

you can see how much i had to cut back as the front still has the factory holes for the boot in the floor.

going to try and spin the rear diff up to point to the tcase sunday and remove the wedges/shims from the front springs. then mabye drill more holes and bolt the rest of the hangers up to the frame.

well got the edelbrock 88-up headers on the motor today and notched about 1/3" off the frame lip to clear the o2 bung thats pluged off and not able to be used in this location. will be installing 1 in the ypipe area and use a heated o2.

then i got the used ebay special 4l80-e only bolt on dust cover tiged up that had a small crack in it. this bolted right up and the brace rods from the th350 or th700r4 style bolted right on no problems.

need to order a few parts monday or tusday. then we can get more done.

got to catch up with a friend and grab some stock steels and mount up some rollers for this till ready. dont need to give them anymore to take. :angry1:

need to finish welding in the seat mounts. then drill the rest of the holes and bolt up the rear hangers 100% . then set pinion angle and weld up perches and regear axles and install traction devices.

then we can order driveshafts finaly and finish buttoning up the motor and exaust. then mabye test run will fallow.

but my energy level is on the bottom level at this point from the whole tire theft ordeal. and birthday in few days and 1 week vacation so who knows when i will get to it.

Man i feel your pain on the tires! Couple years back i bought a set of brand new BFG's and they were stolen off my truck right in my driveway! I think im still paying them off...

Thats a great price for those tires. I'm looking for a set myself, do you have the adress of that surplus place. thanks
