THE STUBBY project / R.I.P . . . . . . . . . . .

well to heck with the side storys. time to get back on track with the flipin build. ( sorry had to yell at my self )

today i was at a friends body shop to look at his new 88 blazer ( no pics sorry ) . he wanted my extra 1tons just waiting on the cash. then on the 1 wall in the shop i spoted a nice size blast box. so i asked whats up with it. he said have at it and have fun.

so i dug out the range box and 4l80-e / 241 adaptor. took about 10-15 min and all striped to bare cast. then he was doing some priming on other parts and offered to spray on some epoxy primer for free. so i left them and went back 3 hrs later and thay were a nice color of primer.

so i went down the street and got a can of duplicolor ceramic 500* paint and sprayed on 2 coats of paint. the color i picked was to show off my hard work and money i have in the driveline build. so what do you think?

reassembly will be this weekend or early next week. then on to the 205 reman and clean/blast/paint.

Looks awesome Brett. Great choice in color!! Now I wish I went a little more extreme with my color choice. Oh well.

Great to see some progress being made.

I guess that means you are still in one piece after playtime with the new toy!!

Show us more!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA love the color...

Liking the dierection...!

Looking forward to more details on the range box:D

well i spent some time today on the 203 range box full reassembley and bolt up of the ord doubler plate. few pics of the stuff.

#1 = 45 min slow and steady with lots of grease to set all 60 neddle bearings back in the lower gear unit. fun but got it 1 hit no drops. use lots of grease all over them. cant use to much i say.

#2 custom lock down anti spin tab made to hold pin and keep from possible spin. made this after asking stephen at ord. he said its just a bit of security / safty. its a tapered pin so its not realy going anywere. also use a thick coat of red locktite on it to seal it to the case for no leaks.

#3 lowrange gear on to new shaft. and the shaft is fresh from frezzer for shrinking to fit tight bearing in doubler plate.

#4 shaft / lowrange gear and bearing / snap ring all in doubler plate ready to get 15 needle bearings in shaft and bolt in to case. and again lots of grease and no drop outs when set in to plase.

#5 full assembled and hand tested unit on bench . shifts threw high/n/low just fine.

well job well done and 1 less thing to build up.

well today i tore apart the perfectly working 32 spline 205 to make way for the full reman/blast/prime/paint like the range box.

pics to come soon ....

and a 205 is not that bad to take apart completly. but i havent reassembled it yet. .....

Getting anxious yet? The closer to the end I got, the more I wanted to hurry! Can't wait to see some pics!

no need to hurry . when i first joined here i had a truck not finished yet. hoped to find some good info. but somthing bad happened. i hang out here and never finished it yet. havent touched it in 5 years. but yes its in a garage and not out side.

So what are you waiting for? Just practicing on a few trucks first, to make sure you get it right? I've seen some of your toys, lets get going. Your plow toy looks like it's pretty functional and durable, you seem pretty capable, get the big guns out now!!:D:bow::D

? for you on the rear frame when you shorten or move the springs perches does the rear hanger end up in the factory axle bend. That would put the rear hanger up higher than the front correct. Or are you going to cut and section the frame.

i am doing 8" of lift total. so if the frame hanger movement adds lift fine. less of a block i need to level it out in the end. as i have 4" lift packs for rear. no sectioning of frame for me. just move it up and cut off extra.

Ya when i looked at my 4 door frame it appears the rear hanger will be in the raised section of the fram 4 or so inches higher there for lowering the back of the truck. Un sure of how far you ar moving it or if this is a problem.
