The Toyotas

Love my 18 tundra outside of the mileage and I’m about to get my 89 4Runner street legal for the first time since 06. Simple, basic vehicles that just work.

Have owned at least 1 Toyota since 1990, normally an excellent vehicle. Like all mechanical things they do have an item or two that will need watching.

A Yota fan as well and have owned seven in total :
3 - FJ40’s
2 - FJ80’s
1 - 2WD Hilux
1 - Tacoma 4x4 Off Road

No regrets - the Tacoma is my daily and it’s been great!

I have purchased toyota parts online from So Carolina does your dealer sell online ?
We are connected to a Land Cruiser group. but generally not to the General public. What parts are you buying? Let me know what your buying? curious on pricing? i don't know if i could do better...

It was a couple of years ago, and not a lot. Was some plastic bumper clips for my daughter's Gen 1 rav4.
My only Toyota ATM is my wife's 2016 Scion Tc. Might be getting some inner fender liners for it soon.

I pulled the canopy and a lot of rat nest wiring (aftermarket fog lights and dash mount USB charger).

I also pulled the coax from the tailgate antenna mount and rerouted it. Previously, it looped over the tailgate, fully exposed in the bed, through the bed floor and randomly routed under the truck and too close to the driveshaft. Now it runs down the frame and up through the taillight.

I also mounted my dual band 2m/440 radio. The head unit mounts to the dash accessory bracket along with the external speaker. The radio body is now mounted under the driver seat on my fancy new, custom bracket. I had to order a new power cord and that should arrive tomorrow.

Finished up installing my VHF/UHF mobile radio in the new truck this evening. Main radio body mounted to a plate under the seat with the head unit on the dash. I ran a mag mount antenna for the time being while I figure out a better antenna setup.

This was not how I planned to spend my evening. Someone left a bolt out, that allowed the hardline to vibrate until it cracked. Now to see if the local dealer carries it and bleed the system.

I replaced the bad brake line, bleed the brakes, and replaced the serpentine belt, tensioner, and pulleys today. There are some strange design choices and very little access to see what you are doing, but I made it through the list. I also installed a Molle panel in the bed but forgot to take a pic.

I joined a Tacoma forum for random technical info while working on the truck this weekend. However, I cannot stand to browse the forum without a direct search. Top questions today involve how to clean and shine mud tires, and where to buy an extended warranty.
