That's a whole lot of sanding, cleaning and prep work. Now I know why every painter and prep station guy I ever knew were skinny.

3 hours later. All masking done and a first coat of paint. Almost done.

Hopefully a 2nd coat tomorrow after work. Then wednesday bring it outside to start prep work on the roof which will end up being semi gloss black.

I wanna see it when its done :deal:

So you can point and laugh? I'll be the first to admit, it looks like a $30 paint job. Certainly nowhere near GMCs "professional grade". You should have stopped yesterday when you drove by. Yeah, that's right. I seen ya. I always take a look out the window when I hear a decent exhaust tone. My schedule just changed so I have Mondays off now, just happened to be home.

Haha ya I totally forgot what street you live on. If I knew you were off I would have stopped by. I was out for a cruise while messing with my EZ EFI a/f ratios, so you know a lot of full throttle pulls, I'm sure you could hear me coming a mile off :D. As you know my exhaust isn't what you would call "quiet".

That paint will be fine for what you are using your truck for. I went higher end on my paint and I sometimes find myself avoiding puddles :doah:

What about something like this? maybe too simple ...too common...just a block color on the bottom and maybe a graphic of some kind?

Yeah, once you go through this you understand why paint and body work is so expensive.

oh yes it is, plus paint itself to do it properly is expensive i got quoted on a copper color 110 a gallon and then clear coats

I can't see myself doing any "K5" graphic like that. But I appreciate the input.

I will update that the gray is all done. I started reassembly of all the trim and lights and such. I'll have to convince the wife to help me get the hood back on. Then maybe I can get it outside for better pics. Prob won't have time to sand/paint the roof till Monday but at least I can drive it this weekend. I've been missing being behind the wheel of that truck.

I wouldn't either...and if I did it would be a duplicate of my 74 K5 emblem...

lookin good...you certainly are going faster than I am. :waytogo:

Well, yeah. But with respective results. Something tells me, when you're done and after all of Ryokens advice, your truck will be a thing of beauty. Where mine will be...... less attractive. Much less.

Figured I should update this. Now that I've had it out and about but keep forgetting to snap a pic.... I went wheeling yesterday and made sure to grab some pics.

Quite your b*tchen, the truck looks great :thumb:

That is a DIY4X front bumper. Bought it from Ben (NEK5) when he parted out his project. Now I need a rear one just like it.
