That's the idea. But sounds like its not needed.

So. A dinner discussion with my wife has yielded the following nugget of wisdom from her:
"...Make Golden Spike the Powder Puff run; let the women drive. I bet nobody is going to break anything..."

from the much research I think the Trifecta is a trail that anyone can do. But they must be smart about it and bring many parts, food, fuel, etc.

Yup, what Dave said!1st, I apologize to all for this short story. I mean no disrespect to anyone.....
Ok, I haven't been with CK5 for a while and didn't make it to BB this year but it was my 1st time since it started.
I understand all your concerns and have read every comment. 1st thing I will say is this trail needs to stay.
Sure it's always one with problems, one everyone seems to talk about but I can tell you in all the years I've gone, many others have too.
Yes, this trail needs to be pushed harder so we get out earlier...agreed.
I've seen some of the best freak'in wheelers we have on this site break stuff, hit things too hard, get lost etc. So what!
No matter what trail your on, things can and WILL happen. Years ago, I was on the trifecta and around half way when my clutch came a part and waded up locking me in granny. I had to drive every obstacle without stopping. Did everyone leave me behind? Hell no! I was the one telling them to get out of my way, I was coming through. I drove my truck though everything except the stairs where need a little pull to restart it. I made it all the way to the highway when my truck rolled back from the stop sign. Oh and yes, I was the first one out. Remember, I started as half ton and still did it.
Sure I've been stuck out on that trail until late but I've also done it quick, started at 9ish and been out before 5:00 PM.
Every year is different and so is every truck & driver.
I can remember several people even posting on here that had far from capable trucks still do the trail with us and make it. Sure we had to stop, spot and help them out but they're much better drivers today because of it.
Yes, I was helping lead the run when JMS decided to turn out and head back down. I knew we might have a hard time making the rest of the trail, might be out late and before anyone went on, it was asked "Do you really want to do this? We might be out very late". All that went on agreed. They could have turned around just as easy. We all made the decision to move on. Yes we got out late, yes I should have said "Turn around, your truck shouldn't be on this trail" but I didn't. My bad.
Even with that, I would never leave anyone behind and have never done it.
I've seen some of the best guys on here lead trails, break trucks, roll trucks and break their group into 3 or 4 small groups without ever looking back to see if the others made it out. My group that year heard about what had happened on rusty nail and many of us stayed to make sure EVERYONE made it out ok.
It might have been an hour or two before the last forgotten and pissed off guys made it out but they were happy to see us as we were them.
Even the best can get a little lost. I will admit that some of the guys with full race trucks, GPS and other toys can drive a trail in the night without even thinking.
I understand it's something I should have and may have by next year but I've done almost every trail without any of the fancy toys and always made it out safe.
No mater what trail your on, things happen and you can be stuck there for a long time, miss the BBQ etc. even if the trail is only a quarter mile long.
I fully agree with the tech inspections and having trucks that can do it. Maybe even drivers that have been here before but some of the guys that join us, might just show us a thing or two even if they haven't been to Moab before.
The statement, "what I'd love to see happen is to get someone that is willing to take this run on as their baby. Someone that I can count on being there every year. A person that is willing to lay down some ground rules, enforce them, and/or live with the consequences one way or the other" is not something I really want to hear. Sure, I've lead many of them, sure I've been here for every year since the beginning but I will never say I will live with the consequence of others mistakes.
That's like saying one guy does the tech inspections and if a truck breaks, it's the inspectors fault.... really?
If money is there, if my truck is back up and running, back kicking butt, I'll be there, I'll buy a GPS or do whatever I need to so that this trail lives on just as I would for Blazer Bash in general. No, I'm not perfect, no my truck isn't the badest thing out there but I'll do whatever I can for anyone on any trail.
Maybe we should have a recovery team waiting for check in of groups so if any trail has troubles and they're out early, they can go help?
Maybe we should always all do that anyway? I know I've checked on lost groups and was ready to pass on dinner and go help at a moments notice.
Why can't more do this instead of the few we always call on that might be getting a little burnt out from doing this?
I know I've had many guys that had my back and I always would have theirs, it's part of the brotherhood we know and love.
Sorry to let you down this year. I so much wish I could have been there. I so much hope I will be there next year but life has it's curve balls now and then.
I hope we can all work together to never let a trail go because someday, we might not have a choice when they shut it down.
What I mean by "live with the consquences..." is that if you are the trail leader and you decide to allow a truck on 31's with open axles to do the trail and it ends up taking until 3AM then so be it."what I'd love to see happen is to get someone that is willing to take this run on as their baby.

I have several ideasworking out the details in my head

I have one strong candidate/volunteer that may do this, but they are still mulling things over.
I thought I was sorta in the position of the only one who "publicly" expressed an interest in doing this.
I wanna help at least....That would be hard to do with the echo in there.
Sorry.
