Presumably the 1-prong relies on a good ground path through the transmission case.

The two prong is for the switch pitch (variable pitch torque converter) models that needed another wire, the 1 wire is the most common as it is only for the kickdown solenoid that is usually operated with a sliding switch by the gas pedal.

When it comes to transmission parts do not even bother with the auto parts stores. Since 99% of your every day shade-tree mechanic never goes that deep into repairing their own vehicle, auto parts stores are not going to stock something they are only going to sell one time a year. Stick with the companies that specialize in only transmission parts.

I agree, anytime I’ve asked for engine or transmission parts the parts store guys look at me like I’m nuts…of course anymore that’s any part. I try to have all my part numbers when I go in, they always say we like guys like you….sure you do because you get paid the same and only have to do half the work

For small stuff, check with local driveline shops. They can be a great resource with good used parts - if there's one that will mess with that stuff. Also great for matching up to what you have in hand, vs ordering and crossing your fingers.

Agreed, I’ve had great experience w my local trans rebuilder having a pile of parts for cheap.

i called three shops that are rebuilders and all said the same thing ."bring it to me and ill rebuild it"

I think it’s the forward drum and center support are assembled
The vids where right you will feel it thunk into place and know if it is right or not

Hope assembly early won’t hurt this crap, going to assemble as much as I can and install till I get gears in for pump.

That is typical of shops that just want you to go away. You need to find a local place that sells transmission parts not service. Here in Las Vegas the biggest local supplier of transmission parts to the service shops is called Allmatic Transmission Parts. They are a Transtar distributor.

Are you using transmission assembly lube as you put your transmission together?

its not too bad , i have learned with all that crap sitting in the garage if you cover it with a tarp the garage does not stink as bad
hope its ok to use a lot of that assembly goop cause i did..........

I've never used that assembly lube, just Vasoline. I smell ATF. Just like how power steering fluid reminds me of the long 3 months I spent in the Saginaw Steering Gear factory.
