Wage92's 78 K5 Build

Got the bender mounted last weekend, and starting practicing bending today. Roll cage will be next up, getting all the interior fitted and then pull it all apart and paint the floors. To be continued...

Update: got the engine bored and now just waiting on a couple of things and the assembly will start

And now that school is winding down, i was able to start messing with the bender, this is what i have so far, today i worked on attaching it to the frame, but i had to order some steel so had to stop, hopefully next paycheck i will be able to order seats and then i can put that part of the frame together.

did a little work on the engine block tonight, tapped out every hole on it, tomorrow i have some permatex coming and i will install the core plugs.

Dude, this is my favorite build on here. I mean, it reminds me of what i wanna do with mine. Sheetmetal dash, custom door panels, lined interior, meticulous undercarriage. Youre doing a really great job man! And, its mosty happening in the driveway..... mine too! Luckily tye bottom end of my small block is all good (seemingly) but i did have to slap a set of donor heads on it last weekend. The old smog 882 heads had AT LEAST 2 cracked combustion chambers (#2, 4).

Ps, thats a job, chasing all the holes in a block. I almost cross threaded one. My block is friggin .080 over anyways, so itll soon be replaced with a fresh 5.7 vortec motor set up for carb.

thanks for the compliments guys, should be getting more regular updates. I want this thing on the road within the month. Gotta pick up the pace.

And yea i have the holes drilled to mount it to the frame, just need to make flanges and bend some tubing.

I would also like to see the pics of it going to the frame, as I will have to do the same.

The plan is to put sliders/steps that are going to be integrated into the cage and connected to the frame. Should get some time this weekend to work on it.

Cam bearing installer my dad made with scraps from work. lol We'll see how it works in a little bit!

I loke how.you painted the block. I cannot STAND whem someone puts the whole engine together, and bomb-cans the whole thing, fuel pump, water pump, harmonic dampner, etc.

I want one of those diy4x dashes SOOOO BAD

thank you sir. And yes i cant take that either when someone just paints everything. Hopefully the paint lasts...

And yea I will be starting to populate the dash quite soon...

Got a good couple hours on the engine yesterday. Put the crank in, checked runout, endplay and all main oil clearances. Also installed pistons to rods and put them in without rings, need to check oil clearances on them and make sure piston to wall is good. Have to make sure the cam and all clears, then i need to gap the rings...so on and so forth. More pics to come, it was late when i finished so i only got this one early on.
