Want to Go to Blazer Bash 2011 What do I Need ?

I will be going out on I 70, would be cool to run out with some others. It would look cool to see a bunch of chevys running together.

Does anybody know how soon you need to book a motel room For Blazer Bash? I've heard that rooms can get hard to find in Moab if there is a big event.

This time I booked at the beginning of June.

yea it would be pretty sweet just to see a bunch of huge chevys rolling down the highway.... i am going to talk to my unit and see if i can get that weekend off.

quick question
If I brought some axle shafts, which would I bring? I have a D44/14ff.
Both inner d44 and one outer?
U-joint
One 14b axle shaft?
would that cover me for any ONE break per axle?

then driveshafts and u-joints for them, extended stockers just to make it runnable
then maybe any matching R&P I have happen to have

bring both 14ff shafts, they are different. bring as many spares as you can, sucks if you break your spare on your 2nd day and don't have more.

When I ran a D44, I always carried a complete shaft assembly for both sides. That way it was a quicker fix on the trail. At least quicker relative to having to try and swap a ujoint plus removing and re-installing the shaft. Plus if the shaft breaks there's a chance both yokes could be damaged.

As mentioned, full floating 14 bolt shafts are two different lengths. If you already have spares keep them but I wouldn't bother looking for spares for that axle until you get at least to the 44" tire range. Even then, it takes a LOT to move the weak point to the FF 14 bolt.

thanks a lot guys, great info. Didn't know the 14b had different shafts, was hoping they were the same. I like the idea of having complete sides for the d44.
I'll look into some prices from my local yards.

If you're getting junkyard spares for the front, I totally agree to go ahead and get the two complete axle assemblies. Just make sure the u-joints aren't trashed, they break easily if the u-joint is worn out.

Don't worry about the 14 bolt shafts.

If you have room bring the 14ff shafts and leave in the towrig/camp. Someone else might need them and might be able to make a few $$.

Interesting One here I like when the First time to BB guys are coming and getting excited I know I am Excited

Particularly when the new guys plan on breaking 14FF axleshafts.
Should be fun to watch. :D

:haha:
damn skippy, and with only 37s to boot!
I always over prepare and over pack, no mater if I'm going to Moab, or some hotel for a few days. :waytogo:
thanks guys

If you've got the room for it, no such thing as over-prepared IMO . :waytogo:

I don't know your route but I know there is a couple guys coming from the east, Iowa and Michigan to be exact, might be able to hook up with them,

Its 76zimmer and cyberfire
Kert and I will probably come across 80 then drop down through CO. and into Moab.
I'll set something up when we get closer to August.
