well thought id start my build thread.. 4 seat exo complete...7/28/10

im watching your thread cause im about to do close to the same thing.

im getting a crate 454 with a stand alone wiring harness, ecm, high torque starter, headers, new power steering pump, water pump, and pulleys. im working on gathering the fuel tank, sending unit, and fuel pump now.

is there a good vendor for custom orderd high pressure fuel lines? im going to mount a blazer tank in the bed dropped down theough the floor.

all this is going into my 78 stepside.

Time for an update

Ok guys time for an update. since the motor swap alots happened. took the truck to the class got an awesome grade. then over the summer didnt mess too much with the truck. then labor day came along and went wheeling at Westmoreland County Highlands Offroad club in latrobe pa. Started the first ride with half doors, then they came off after that. bad idea:doah:. once the doors come off they never go back on....

trail rode for three days which resulted in taking a clean, straight, rust free truck and truning it into a trail only vehicle.:screwy: ...after the ride got some new boggers for the rear

added the boggers and a doubler over christmas. doubler is a 205 cut in half with a divorced 205 behind. connected w/ a 1350 driveshaft cv. works well and was all for under $400.

That seems to happen to a lot of people. I got 2 K5s. one to restore, and one to wheel. that way I dont feal bad about recking my truck.

What is the advantage of the 205/205 doubler? Just less expensive, or is there a performance aspect to it that is diffrent frome say the 203/205.
It looks interesting. Do you have any mor info in it?

WOW :eek1::eek1::eek1: It happens to the best of us. You have a clean straight rig, and say youll never kill it, and you just kill it. :waytogo:

pics of the shifters and linkages

The advantage to the 205/205 is cheapnes and overall same gearing as a 203/205. the length does suck but i had the wheelbase to handle it. also does put 2 extra u-joints to fail.

as for shifters i had twin sticked the tcase i had previously and used two factory shifters similar to a write up by kitmatdude(sp?). used same shifters just used out side lever for rear case. note rear case is normal shift not twinned. i did it on the previous one and never used it. here are some pics to give you an idea
