this adapter is probably only 25ish years old, I believe it came off a gmt400. Yeah I could maybe fish the spring out of the 3/8" npt plugged hole and stretch it, reinstall.

Did some more research. Worrying about nothing lol. The bypass is a differential valve. There is oil pressure on either side of it. It only opens if the filter is overly restrictive as that valve is both before and after filtering occurs.

So while it may be bypassing at all times to a degree, cold/thick engine oil and oil pump regulator failure (super high pressure) are about the only times the bypass is likely important.

My rig has always leaned to the left, prob my fat ass to blame. Did so on the old springs and the new springs.
I want to loosen them up and retighten shackles maybe u bolts.

Consensus on proper procedure?

The fuel tank is on the left frame rail.

I don't remember, rear springs replaced?

Torsion bar front, correct? I measured at the top of the front fender arch to balance mine. I did put a used spring in the left rear because I knew the history of the truck from 20K miles, to when I got it at 280K. Then I could actually adjust it better to eliminate the lean.
Only the shackle bolts and front eye bolts would affect static height, IMO. I don't see how the U bolts, torqued the same, would affect ride height.

This my 77, all leaf sprung.
Rears new in 21, fronts in 23.
Whoops! Sorry. I was thinking about the other one, obviously.
It seems difficult to get a leaf spring truck to sit level with any replacement springs, from my experience.

Could try swapping springs from one side to the other. I've changed out bushings multiple times due to wear, and it never changes the truck's lean. I figure it's a downside to softer suspension.

A more "extreme" attempt might be adding lift to the driver side. Like a short zero rate if you have the room.

Or put a couple bags of sand on the passenger seat? :D

Been puttering around for the oil cooler lines finished up on Saturday.

Come out to finish buttoning up, and find this

Wasn't like this on Saturday. Fluid was nice and clear, I thought brake fluid. Nope axle seal. Time to update to the good seal.

Think I used a 45* zerk. Have to spin the ujoint just right.

think I will try a needle tip on hose and see if I can go through the axle up into the ball joint. Anyway I am not worried for BB24, will get the good ones with the zerk angled on the edge and redo after BB24

Through some stuff in the truck and hit the road for an impromptu outing. Headed up to @3000-4000 ft. Is only 95 ish up here.
Burb had a nasty vibration. I am thinking tires are flat spotted, hasn't moved a lot this year. Pull off I40 check the t case I am in 4w hi :doah:. Shift into 2 wheel hi and just the normal vibration.
Get to trail head air down from 40 to 25ish. 1st part leads to a working cattle ranch, big rig with flat bed leaving as I get to gate. He delivered hay to first tank and holding pens, road got rougher after that. Has one small up hill stair. Then got to and past the ranch proper, turned into high clearance 4x4 trail shortly after ranch, selected 4 wheel hi and went for it.
Few of largish rock patches, one 1/4 mile uphill grade of loose rocks, lots of wash crossing.
One part was a section of black lava, if it weren't for the evil cholla forest on each side and the temperature, I could imagine being in Hawaii. As I tried to snap a shot the phone claimed overheated, in the cooler it went. Did I mention the AC quit about 30 mins into the trail.

Well I found the AC issue within 10 minutes of getting the truck in the shop.

This connection wasn't seated in the plug, push it all the on and cool air.
I should have looked on the trail Friday, oh well.
I need to double check my charging system, at one point , with everything on lights, AC front and rear, condenser fan, trans cooler fan, fuel pump, electric cooler, phone charger, stereo. My system voltage was down to 12.5 volts at 70 mph and 2700 rpm.
Batteries are old, the main battery has been abused some. Will load test them first.
Not an expense I want right before BB24

Ended up getting a red top Optima on Tuesday, No one in town had any other AGM group 34. Tuesday morning needed a boost to crank at speed.
Battery must have weak for awhile, this new Optima spins and starts in far fewer revolutions maybe 2. So should be good to go for Moab.
