WL: 1975 K5 (previously "Another new (to me) K5.")

Usually 2 things cause it for me.

1. I tighten the brass fitting too tight and pinch the line.

2. I bump the line/fitting hard enough to pinch the line.

Don't pinch the line.

So I tried the "discard the rubber end pieces" for the first time, and just used silicone.

I have an oil leak at the back of the block.......

Martin

Thats strange, I always do that, never had a problem with it. Was it clean and oil free? I like to wipre things down with alcohol or laquer thinner before I put gaskets or silicone on.

You don't have excess blowby and/or crankcase pressure do you?

So are the rubber pieces going to become like manual transmissions and orange engines for you? :pimp:

Mine was a mechanical gauge and it was leaking.

I too have had them leak where the line goes into the block for the mechanical gauge.

There is no spot for a oil line on the back of a Big Block like there is on a Small block. The port for a sender or oil line is by the near the oil filter.

Well I told myself I was never going to take that top off by myself again.

Apparently I lie to myself a lot.

Oh, and a couple weekends ago I went to a wedding a few hours West of here. The bride was a friend of my wife. Turns out the groom was the son of the guy I bought the Blazer from. Small world.

Talked to the parents of the groom. Showed them a few pictures. It was kind of neat.

Its funny, they are probably just vents as I think I can see some rust, but the old building looks like it has modern skylights.

That was a grainary. Those are lids. They open up, and that is where you filled it with grain.

Nice to see this thing again. Do you drive it regularly?

Yes-ish.

Well since I hadn't looked at this thread for a long time, and never subscribed, I didn't tell you what you already know.

Those valve covers will work. I have been running them for 15+ years. I sanded the tops of the ribs M/T style. I even painted between the ribs orange once!

I cut 2x4s to three feet long and used them as braces to get the hood bolts through. Not ideal but it works. Lol. Looks tough without a hood. More rat rodded.
